Most are not labeled.  When you buy them second hand it's really a role of the dice.  Manufactures do not post diameter to caliber on their websites.  Here are some of mine.  All are 1/2x20:

Daystate Huntsman .177 airstream  .569 (came with gun)

Second hand Huggett Mini Magna that came off Brocock .177  .589 (LDC only)

Second hand .22 DonnyFL tatsu .612 (LDC only)

Daystate Wolverine .22 Huggett  .664 (came with gun)

Daystate Regal XL .25 airstream .692 (looks like an early model)

Daystate Wolverine 303 Huggett .30 .767 (came with gun)

My question is, what is the cutoff for .22/.25/.30?  For example, do not use an LDC on a .25 gun with an exit hole no smaller than X.

Those all seem unreasonably large!!! I've done some experimentation at home, and I use about 0.25 for .177, about 0.27 for .22. I don't have a .25 or .30, but if things are properly aligned, about 0.50-0.060 over should work.

i agree with Doug and i have use similar sizing as he did

if everything is dead nuts aligned the smaller hole would work but my R and D work was seat of the pants and my conclusions were always----well that works---and seeing i was the client,he was happy

but i think what is used inside is more important than the last hole

what are the opening sizes internally, that is were the magic happens

I am similar  at @ .220 for .177 cal    @ 270" for .22 cal   @ .300 for .25 cal   All with correct threads and proper alignment.

If alignments is crooked you have no choice but increase exit as well baffle sizing.

Read the caliper wrong.  New numbers:

Daystate Huntsman .177 airstream  .270

Second hand Huggett Mini Magna that came off Brocock .177  .298

Second hand .22 tatsu .310

Daystate Wolverine .22 Huggett  .365

Daystate Regal XL .25 airstream .390

Daystate Wolverine 303 Huggett .30 .465

Those are still too big for my liking, but I suppose that it's the manufacturers doing a CYA, so that they get less complaints of clipping and other issues due to poor alignment.

Donny FL will recommend the next caliber size up to avoid clipping. I've drilled mine and noticed no noise increase.

Just a few thousands over cal. size is enough if every thing is aligned properly, and the pellet being used is a good fit in the barrel.

From my work, I have found that the volume of the mod has way more to do with the effectiveness than the exit hole.

I agree that in "mass production" the larger hole gives the manufacturer CYA.

Took me awhileto find the Caliper.....but measured a bunch of LDC's and a few factory shrouds. Pretty much ingnored the home-brew LDC's.

NOT all of them have been internally measured...whatever baffles they have may be a different size than the end cap....the ones that have been taken apart and measured, ran the same size holes thoughout.

Do not think that the add-on (bought, not made) are crappy...those guys only make one thing, so are likely to make them "right". Factory shrouds/LDC's are from places that make a lot of things (like airguns),and don't rely on the one thing they sell being "right".

Factory offerings did tend to be larger....more like .28"-.30" for .22 or .25's. MOST of the .177 specific ones were also .28",but a couple were more like .24-25".

ONE factory "turd" was .392" for a .22. Worked, but didn't work well until the baffles and end cap were sleaved to .30" (still leaving room for some miss aligment).

Aftermarket LDC's more like .24"to .27"...only one .25,which ran closer to .29". The smallest one was specifically requested for a .177.

Alignment plays a big role...doesn't hep to have small holes if the holes doen't line up dead center to the bore. Also why some LDC makeers do NOT want to make LDC's for some rifles, known to have off center bores more often than other barrels.
