Tom Gaylord has a couple of blogs out about a possible upcoming product from Vortek: a center latching, user adjustable gas piston. Right now he's testing one for the R9/HW95 and he says there is one for the HW30S/R7 as well. So maybe the next step will be one for the Diana springers.

Here are the links to parts 1 and 2 of the blog so far.

You're welcome, Steve.

Let's hope there's enough interest in it for Vortek to make versions for other guns. For the guys that have wanted something like this for their quality German springer it would be like having their cake and eating it, too. ?

Several years ago Tom Gore installed a gas ram prototype in my TX200. It performed just great, I really really liked it. I'm glad to see he is coming out with these products. I know I would for sure buy a TX ram if available. My TX200 presently has a Vortek 12 ft/lb spring. Really a sweet accurate set-up.

Thanks Mr. Gore!

I agree, Don. It's good to see someone working on new products for springer shooters.

Hi Jim,

I saw prototypes of these at an airgun show in 2016. I can't remember if it was Arkansas or Ft. Worth but I know I didn't go to either last year so it was at least 2016. Tom himself was demonstrating the installation and I recall his enthusiasm.

I sure hope they come to market and are successful. They just make sense to me. I suspect there is a lot of time in R&D plus liability concerns and things that I'm not even aware of that delay these things.

A good gas spring in a quality gun makes sense. I'm a little surprised we don't hear more about the Diana N-Tec's especially the 340. I've always fancied one but never bit the bullet.

But then these springs from Vortek are going to be somewhat adjustable which is a whole 'nuther level of refinement.

I'm following that blog with great interest.

Hey, Mark. Been a while, lol. Hope all is well your way.

Cool story about seeing the prototypes. And yeah, I'm surprised we don't hear more about the Diana N-Tec guns, too. But like you said, these Vortek pistons being adjustable is a whole different level compared to the gas pistons that are out there now, with the exception of the Beeman RX/HW90 of course. Something like this that you could drop into your favorite Euro springer could be a game changer.

Here's part 3. Things are looking pretty good so far. But would be interesting to know if this is user serviceable in case of leaks or if it would have to be sent in for repair. Haven't seen anything about that yet.
