I just brought my RX2 out to catch up on how she feels, acts and reacquaint myself to how she wants to be held. Well my trigger feels kinda rough and like its catching on something then gets smooth then again, like catching on something. Anyone got an opinion(s)?
The way I adjust mine is unscrew the front big record looking screw until its off the spring then go back in far enough so it won't fall out. That gets the 1st stage as light as it will go with that spring. Try it out. It should be lighter. Now get a very tiny allen wrench that fits the screw that's deep in the hole in the trigger blade and back that out until the 2nd stage is as good as you can get it. The 3 I have adjusted have all come out real nice. You will end up with a long 1st stage but it should be super smooth and the 2nd stage should have a good stop and fairly crisp let off. I have not had to polish any or change any springs so far. Jeff C
If you suspect the trigger is malfunctioning in anyway, take it to a pro. I've known a couple people in the past tweaking with the RX trigger, then attempting to remove the stock to get a closer look. If you are not careful you will break the safety.
At the minimum get a trigger pull gauge so you will know what trigger pull weight you prefer. It will probably be in the 2-3.5lb. range.
A long time ago I purchased an R-1 off the classifieds. The previous owner set the trigger to 9ozs. This was dangerous for a sporter rifle, and the gun would go off at unsuspecting times. At first I thought there was something wrong with the trigger. However, after purchasing a lyman trigger gauge all that was necessary was some tweaking with the trigger screw(s). Been so long I cannot remember the sequence, but I did adjust on the light side, around 1.5lbs.
there is a trick to putting the trigger back in. can't remember but I think you have to pull the trigger when installing. But You asked about the adjustment. you don't pull the trigger to do that. After doing the 1st stage you need to check the trigger. that will lighten the 1st and 2nd stage. or like the guy said send me the gun and I will do the trigger and more. really these guns need nothing but I can make them a bit better with a lube job and trigger tune. I put out a $100 tune on these guns but minus shipping and parts. Thank god I got no takers. they don't likely need any parts. A lot of stories about burning up piston seals and what not. maybe true if want bucket loads of power but I have not seen that problem. its a good gun with a most likely good barrel. best money spent is a setup to adjust the Air pressure. that means a assy nipple that that goes into the rear of the comp tube and air. it can be a hand pump or a kuba tank. I have both and use a simple hand pump. its a wonderful; springer. I have had 177. 20 and 22 cal. All super nice. Still want the 25 cal . I would have to bang up the power on that one. great gun, give it
a chance to shine.
