Thank you for the lead on this Napi!
Special ordered through AOA and came in quicker than I thought. Going to drop a JM Hornet kit and seal in it. I haven't even fired it yet since all it will do is probably make cleaning the barrel a bit more of an effort..... This is basing it on 2 recent new HW purchases.
That's a beauty for sure. I really like the profile of the comb. Looks very old-school. I could however, live without the laser-cut checkering. (Think how lovely this stock would look with simple fore-end finger grooves.)
While I don't currently own one, I have a soft spot for the .20. My very first air gun, some 35 years ago, was a Sheridan model H, followed by a model E, P1 .20, and more than a few Sheridan rifles.
Very pretty gun. Here's hoping it shoots as well as it looks!
Lookin' good, Bo. I like the new design for the checkering/stippling but still not too sure about the "missing" chunk of wood on the bottom of the butt, lol.
I see it also has an interesting stamp on the barrel near the serial number. Never seen one that had the "USA" stamp on it like that. Wonder if that's specific to the .20cal models?
Look forward to what you think of JM's Hornet kit. But I have to admit I'd be even more eager to hear about it if it was going into a .177. LOL
Enjoy it and have fun. (I know you will! LOL)
Wow, that was a quick turnaround... I'm glad it worked out so well for you.
I've been shooting mine, I've probably put a hundred pellets through it so far. I just got in a Williams rear aperture sight for it and will be installing it soon. I decided to break her in rather than tuning her. She bucks a little and has a bit of a twang... I'll see if she quiets down some.
She's definitely a looker though, ain't she.
It is definitely different. I like it. Yes the missing chunk of wood is unusual but very functional....cut back on shipping cost? The USA stamp jumped out at me too, but I dismissed it as maybe other HW's from AOA have it? The receiver stamp is obviously not Ohio like the .177. It's the German one (I ciphered it from the English) LOL. Don't see anything unusual with the serial#.
SWMO Jim, you are causing me to twitch. I have a JM Hornet kit & 3 of his seals as well as a backup Hornet spring. I still have the Vortek SHO kit w/seal. Original plan was to keep the .177 docile which is why it has the HO kit. I saw the "Indoor Plinkers Kit" at ARH but the title is too ambiguous. Would that be safe for shooting flies off the chandelier? j/k I could have asked but I'm in a hurry constantly and mmmv yadayada. I give up on the muzzle brakes so I bought 2 of the Beeman shorties from AOA. RE setback brass trigger and more brass safety buttons than I care to admit (note to self, do not attempt following up ebay with cell phone at work). I got every available .20 pellets from 3 different sources. Must be at least 5 or 6 tins! LOL I'm done with my mid powered springer lineup, except for the trimmings.
