Hi folks,

My hope is to collect data about their HPA compressor experiences and share it back to the AG community through this and the various other AG forums that I'm active in. This survey below should only take a few minutes to fill out. If anyone has any questions please email me at mcoulter@syr.edu.

http://bit.ly/hpa-compressor-survey

Thanks to everyone who has helped me identify the compressors that should be included. If you have a compressor that is not listed in the above survey please email and I will add it! mcoulter@syr.edu

To everyone who has posted your experiences in my earlier post, I will ask that you also submit your experiences through the survey instrument. Doing so will help me tremendously in managing the data that's submitted!

Thanks!

- Matt

I tried numerous times.  And the survey would never accept $1300 with free shipping no mater what I did.  Brian

Hi Brian,

Sorry about that.  I have configured that field to only accept numbers.  Please try resubmitting using 1300 as the value.  I have added a note explaining that the dollar sign needs to be left off!

Thanks!

Sorry no work for me.  I tried again.  Takes everything but $1300--1300....  FWIW  I bought an air venturi from Pyramyd Air.  After about 3 hrs it started getting hot and shutting down.  Spit out tons of black oil.  They did send me a new one after I paid $75 to return it.  I sold the new one before I ever had the chance to try it.  That is my info.  Brian Smith

Some relevant info I put together long ago.

I added my 2 cents to your compressor survey.

Cool survey!

Great info Diamondback  🙂  Thanks for sharing!

I'm trying to decide when I have enough responses for a first round of data sharing.  I have collected 113 submissions so far.  (I honestly didn't know if I would get 10, 100, or 1000 responses to this survey.)  My gut tells me that I can probably start building my reports pretty soon and start sharing them here and on the other forums and groups.  I'll have more on this in the next week or so...

Thanks!

In the meantime, here is a table showing the number of hours of run time submitted for the various compressors.  It it sorted to show the highest average (mean) first.  I am including the number of submissions (count) so you can tell how many users contributed their experiences to each report.  I'll be getting into the other reports in the coming week or so...

I purchased a Alpha Carette compressor 2 years ago from Air Tanks for Sale. Paid $1,300 for the unit.  The unit worked perfectly in the beginning pumping 1,000 PSI per hour . This was pumping a 45 minute SCBA tank from 3,500 to 4,500 Psi. I changed oil at 5 hours as instructed in the manual. At about 10 hours of use the unit seamed to pump more slowly. Changed the oil again at 15 hours because it had gotten dark and was pumping even more slowly At 16 hours the unit had decreased to pumping 300 psi per hour. The unit now has 17 hours and now pumps 250 PSI per hour. I think The pump is still under warranty but finding someone to honor it has not happened. This is a Chinese product.  It was suggested that I work on it myself. I would recommend you buy a unit that can be serviced in the USA.

Did Air Tanks For Sale tell you that they will not service the compressor that they sold you?

AireTex is starting to import a compressor he is calling the Mini Magnum.  That is what I bought from Bruce.  I checked AireTex 45 on your survey and mentioned it was different in the notes.

I was just curious about the Aire Tex Mini-Magnum compressor that David referenced. I looked on eBay to see if any were listed: one listed at $3495. WOW! ?
