Has anyone compared the old JSB Monsters to the new redesigned version?

I've been shooting the originals for a while now in my HW100 at about 19 ft lbs. I was wondering if the new design was worth trying out.

Yes there has been a test, I read this one a while back.

Looks like a thorough review.

Review of the redesigned .177 JSB Monster Pellets

All guns perform with different pellets differently, nothing beats real world tests, hopefully you know someone who has a tin and would let you test them without having to buy one.

Thank You Sir. Didn't realize Phillip had done that.

I'm my case every rifle I shoot using the old Monsters shoot better than the new Monsters. But, every rifle is different. Send me a PM. Ill send you some.

Skip, I concur that the Old 13.4 Monsters group a little better at 50 yards than the newer redesigned ones.  I spent a week shooting both pellets and that was my final result. again not a lot better but noticeable in all conditions.

The Monsters seem to be a finicky pellet in my experience.  Unlike the ubiquitous 8.4gr and 10.3gr that seem to group well in just about everything, the Monsters run from amazing to atrocious.  I never experimented with the original .177 but none of my rifles liked the redesigned version.

The original .22 Monsters were just awful in every rifle I tried but I decided to try a tin of the redesigned and it was a complete 180° turnaround.

Original .22 Monsters from B51.  Bleh.

New Monsters from B51.  Sub-MoA.  That's more like it!

Hi Skip,

I received the pellets today. I had no idea you were sending a whole tin. Thank you very much. I will evaluate them as soon as I lead in my recently cleaned barrel. I will pass these along to someone in need if they don't work well in my gun, otherwise I'll pay it forward to the community in some other way when I see an opportunity. Thank you again. This is one of the reasons I like field target so much. "It's the people stupid". ?

Thank you again,

Joe Mags

Ha! It seems that the redesigned works better for some, and not so much for others.
I'm still a believer in the new design with MY barrel for the record.
Another thing that has given me good results is gauging my match pellets. In the tins I have gauged the pellets are one of two sizes- 4.53 and 4.54. My barrel likes 4.54 the best. Some others report 4.53 groups better for them. Head size seems to matter more than weight, but I still prefer to weigh to cull out some very light ones I find from time to time. And I still prefer to shoot all the same weight and head size in a match.

Washing and lubing has given me poor results in the past, so I skip that.

I have several HW100s in 177 set at different power levels and in general, the 10.34s seem better for overall accuracy.
