I have a Hammerli Master owners manual I have been send to those who need one and I did so yesterday to a gentleman in the UK
and he asked if I happened to have a owners manual for a Hammerli 472 Match and at that point I had to look in the Blue Book to find what that rifle was and it listed no 472 but did list the Match and they seem to be one and the same, made from 1962 to 1967
so the search for the owners manual begins and I'm starting here, will post on Garvin's sight in the UK
my hopes are, lets say low but a challenge it is
thanks

Hi Mike, i think it was me who you sent the manual to. My biggest problem with my Master and the Match is setting the automatic valve. the manual is unclear whether this is done with the guns gassed up or empty. Im hoping someone in the USA has been using the valve and can take me through the procedure. Brian, hobsonmooblue@aol.com
Brian have you gassed the gun up and tried to do it when it was full to see if you can get it to dump the cartridge
I still say this feature was for competition shooting so the shooter did not take a of full power shot, no more no less, for anyone not in competition but is o concern about an off power shoot has to chrono the pistol or rifle to find at what point the gun starts to lose power and at that point count your pellets used
now if you really need to set the cap to dump at just that point you will need to loosen the knob and readjust and retest
my opinion as I have stated it is a complete waste of time messing with the cap, just turn the screw counter clock wise and leave it alone
it does not state what the shot count is set at low release or high release but it does state it was set at the factory
can the cap be adjusted with no pressure yes, can the cap be adjust with pressure, I don't know
but you can find out by trying but what will you learn, that you can get the cap to release the co2 at high pressure but what does that mean, nothing, you have to use a chronograph to find how many shoots you get at full power
the rest of the exercise is a waste of time and energy
the pistol was use in the Olympics and won and had to be precise and that cap help the shooter with that but he could have just counted pellets in a tray
in this day and age those old gun don't need to be that damn precise but just be shot and enjoyed and taken care of because there life span is coming to a close and they will all be paper weights or wall hangers, for there no one to care for them any more, just a few that have the guts to try
take care

Thanks for replying, i think i will have to leave the subject as you suggest. Have had a play with the gun gassed up and got no response even when the adjusting screw was screwed right in. My conclusion is that the valve is faulty.or my wife is correct and im as thick as two short planks. Thanks again for your time and trouble. Maybe in the future i can repay favour. all the best Brian.
