Hello guys been a while, took a break from airguns for bit college and traveling a lot for work etc

Back visiting parents and decided to shoot my old AA410E.

Anyway while pumping it seems to be taking longer and not working as good as before. I figure its probably due for a rebuild since its been 8 years since the last one and it probably needs to be cleaned and rings replaced etc

However I cant seem to find any kits at any airgun dealers. It seems they dont even sell fx pumps any more.  Did fx get eclipsed by hill, Benjamin etc?

I think mine is a stage 3 fx pump, not sure how to tell but due to age i assume so.

Also I noticed the air line from the pump has got a crack and needs to be replaced, but I don't see anyone just selling the hose. I see airforce selling a steel braided hose for their pumps but don't know .

Is this a sign I need to spend the money and upgrade to a new hill pump? Are they that much better? Is their dry vac system that much better?  Hoping i can just get a 30 dollar rebuild kit and not have to spend 300 bucks for a new pump.

Probably need to the gun in a for a service as well and have the air tank checked out and seals done as well, since it's also been 8 years but shipping guns is a pain

Thanks, I saw the Bengal and Kirkwood one. But didn't want to buy from the UK as I figured shipping would kill.

Was hoping one of the big US dealers would cary them.  Since none did i was wondering if FX stopped making them or selling to the US and Hill or airforce took over.

Will the hill mk3 kit work in an FX pump?

Don’t really know what I’m talking about just speculation but I would think most of these hand pumps probably use many o rings of the same size???  Doesn’t seem it would be a huge problem

it appears the FX 3 stage has been replaced with the FX 4 stage

Thanks. Yeah it seems like it did.

I wonder if the rebuild kit would work for both?

Guess I'll have to contact fx. Sadly i was hoping one of the stateside places would carry them.

Maybe its a sign I need to upgrade my pump? Are the hill series that much better? I like the moisture capture thing but dont know how effective it is.

@gratewhitehuntr still michigan. Was going to go down and spend some time in chattanooga and then tampa area to see which i liked but then had some problems with a flight physical that cost me a year of work so stayed with parents and girlfriend in colombia to keep cost down.

Then schedule went to busy, between training and deployments I dont have much off. Pretty much be deployed 4 months and then 30 days off.

I did have but last summer where I had a bit of time but with the rona shutting down everything down it kind of killed the vacation/apartment hunting.

Plus I couldn't bring my girlfriend to the US to check those areas to see what she liked.

So right now trying to deploy as much as I can while I am able and save money for a house.

Chattanooga has the mountains and nice city i could get a nice house or maybe one with a bit of land but near enough to the city to do stuff, but no ocean or much water .

Florida has the ocean I love but houses are more expensive and either seem like small beach or retirement homes or mansions.  Plus once you get off the ocean its all flat swamps.

Decisions decisions.

Newly weds and nearly deads.

The exodus from blue states has really changed the demographic around here, and so many other places.

Selling a house in NY or CA for $750K-$1.5M , will buy a couple McMansions in FL.

The shortages of everything has hampered construction, existing housing inventory is down.

I'm not in touch enough to make a call on when inventory will come back to normal, let alone surplus.

Some of North FL has been less impacted, maybe the city slickers can't abide horse-smell?

Wish I had solid advice on the pump rebuild, mine is also in need of repair.

Maybe I'll get to it when the R9 breaks...

Unless you're stuck on the whole FX big name thing, hand pumps can be had that work very well for a 1/4 the price of the big name ones. Nowadays, Chinese companies seem to be making them and "branding" aka labels, stickers, colors, you name it, for pretty much any company that wants to market a hand pump. My current 2 were less than $50 each and strangely look just like the twice as much Air Venturi G6 and G7 hand pumps.
