After years of search, dealing, haggling and loosing. Never having actually seen one in person since there production run started in 1974 and ended in 1980. A beautiful air rifle rendition of the most popular, arguably the most beautiful sporter in the world. The model 70 Pellgun! Looks to have a build date of 1974. The four zero's at the beginning of the serial number (00009857) are usually where the build date went. So many of us think it's first year production. And build number 9,857, under the first 10,000 produced! I have most of what's needed to restomod it. I got it on an eBay auction last Sunday for $213.24 out the door. It'll be here tomorrow! I can't wait to finally get to hold it, heft it, sight, it...all the things we hold dear. I also went back to eBay this afternoon and found a Dem-Bart checkering kit that'll be here Saturday. In 18LPI, just like Winchester used for the checkering on the model 70's. S*** just got real. I'm going to restomod it to look like the pre-war Winchester model 70 Standard.

Do you know what the valve is like? Is it like the old 150 or 160 series? Just curious.

Great photos of beautiful rifles! I had one when I was probably a freshman or sophomore in high school back in 1977 -1978. Purchased it new and cherished it but didn't have it long because a friend absolutely BEGGED me to sell it to him. Didn't seem like a big deal at the time -- I upgraded to a brand new FWB 124D the following year so it was all good... until the realization sets in years later of the one that got away. Oh what could have been.
