Recently came across an FWB 124D with a Santa Rosa address and the serial number was 61547. I've seen a couple of 61xxx numbers, buy never this high.
Anybody else have one with a larger number?
That does sound very high and I've not seen one higher in the UK. I think there was a bulge in production of the 124/127 towards the late '70s and early '80s. and that the vast majority of these rifles was built in a, say, 10-year period (or less), while the rest at either end of the serial number spectrum were made and sold over a far longer period.
So over the approx 20-year lifespan of this model c.50,000 were produced in the middle decade, perhaps.
I have no evidence for this, it's just a feeling based on the fact it was supplanted as 'top dog' in Europe by the Weihrauch rifles by the mid-1980s, and being an airgunner at the time.
Maybe in the US sales figures were quite different, I don't know?
