FAS AR611 SPORTER AIR RIFLE ... looks-like the big brother to the FAS 6004
FAS AR611 Magazine Conversion Kit 4.5MM/.177
Have ya seen this version?
I'm thinking the vendors are gonna specify a more suitable sight combination.
AR611 Sporter, 10m Rifle Precision Diopter Combo
With Crosman Precision Diopter Sight and front globe set
Sorta, as marflow suspected. However, the front sight is in a milled slot - not a dovetail. But, considering the price of this PCP, I doubt anyone is gonna be using the OEM iron sights - optics are gonna be installed.
Looks like the post front sight is still in-place even with the globe sight installed.
so after doing some more reading they have built a group of interesting rifles
and after writing 3 posts and erasing them because they all seemed so negative I'm still at a loss at what to say
or here is something the wood is nice but there are all the laser cut doodads, still nothing nice
Full disclosure here. This rifle is not new and has been around for a couple of years without much real info on it. There was a time when I thought perhaps I wanted one so I did as much research as I could. I liked the 12 fp version but never saw one in person. The cylinder must be removed to recharge the gun. My Anschutz 8002 has the same issue but I get 200 or more shots with that because it is only a 6 fp gun for 10 meter shooting, and I have two air cylinders. One airgun retailer in the US listed this gun at around $1000. I asked if additional air cylinders where available and got no reply from the retailer. Not a bad looking gun but if nobody is shooting one there usually is a reason so I backed away. I ended up buying a used EV-2 for a little bit more and am happy with that. Lately I have read some discussion threads about the FAS pistol over on Target talk. It was stated that since Chiappa took over, the quality control on the pistols leaves a lot to be desired. Somebody did a pretty detailed write up on all the work that needs to be done to make the pistols acceptable. Not good press for Chiappa at all.
Again, these rifles have been around for several years. There might just be a reason why they are not being seen in the hands of shooters.
I don't like to make posts like this but I don't want to see shooters make poor purchasing choices even more.
Rick Bassett
Rick you are right if no one buys them they just disappear down the track of time and new things pop up
it not a bad looking rifle but when you start off with why did they do that and this you get less excided
so the sights are the first red flag to me as I already stated and that is both types, they write it up as the Crosman sight are just great and that is nonsense, they are only 10 click sights and the turrets are not marked
now if it came with Gehmann 590 compact sight and 22mm front sight then that is worth a look
and why is the .177 100 bucks more then the .22 why is the .177 at 16j and the .22 at 40j
and I have a 6004 but have no to compare to the 604 but mine had one problem the pin in front of the sight kept sliding out, put some paint on the pin and solved that problem
and a FWB 500 would be in direct competition, a little more money but it is a Feinwerkbau
