Hey Guys and Gals,

I have recently been drooling over the EDgun Leshy however I don't think I can afford the price.  Can anyone share ideas of a micro carbine like the Leshy ?

Thanks

Hello Luckystrike,

Below are two PCP rifle you might consider:

1.  Benjamin Marauder Air Pistol with AR15 Stock.

If you don't like the AR style stock, there are other choices available.

2.  Evanix Rex

You can find pictures and specifications on both of these air rifle by going

to Forum Resources and searching Friends of Airgun Warriors

Good Luck

If you are up for a little bit of a Lego blocks project, I would go with the SPA PP700S-A pistol, get Vash’s stock adapter and a telescoping AR stock, and add a Rocker1 LDC if you want to hush it down.

I got the .177 and love it. The barrel is one of the least pellet picky I’ve ever seen and it’s not even choked. But I’m keeping it a pistol for my purposes, and trust me that has been an ongoing mental struggle because it’s so accurate that it begs to be shouldered to stretch out its effective range. The regulator is externally adjustable and I had mine running as high as 15fpe without doing any porting or internal modifications. Not bad for a barrel about the length of a soda straw. If memory serves, guys have had the .22 up around 20fpe in stock form and higher with mods.

The one caveat is the regulators are hit and miss. Mine was one of the persnickety ones and exhibits some creep but hey, I read a lot about guys upgrading the regulators in their >$1000 FX’s with a Huma reg for the exact same reason, and Huma makes one for this model as well if you were to decide you need it.

If that’s something you’re interested in, let me know and I’ll try to pull together some links for you this evening.

I quite like the short guns. Just for comparison sake here are some guns that were mentioned. They all have additional LDCs added so the lengths could even be shorter if needed. My Prod has had a Marmot Militia barrel installed. That turned it into a true shooter. The Airmax pistol is a .22 I'd originally had a Crosman stock similar to the Prod on it and then bought one of Vash's stock adapters. Really well made. Added a DonnyFL Sumo. The Leshiy is my favorite set up as a .25 and 100 mm shroud extension.

1213

For the money I'd also look seriously at a Hatsan Flashpup.  I have the Flash in a .177 and am very impressed with the accuracy for the price break.

Something to consider....

If you go with your current plan, you'll end up spending out a good chunk of change that could go toward the Leishy and will continually be looking back at the Leishy to drool.   In addition, you will likely never get your money back adding bits to another gun.  Adding customization to a gun is a labor of love.  I only mention this because you mentioned the money.

Just buy once, cry once and be done with it.  Then you'll never be chasing the Leishy.

Great view!  I think I am sold on saving up for the Leshiy.  I am almost half way there just need to sell off a few more vintage crosmans and bear recurves.

Good plan. I have to agree with Rob, my minor build jobs are nice.... just not a Leshiy. ?

Just to contradict myself, look at an AirForce Talon P. Less than half the price of a Leishy and right up there on performance. Out of the box  ready. It was my go to shorty until a Mutant and Leshiy kicked it out of the bed.

I don't know why I forgot to mention the Airforce option. I had a Talon P for about a week and my nephew talked me out of it. I'm a bit of a FX and Airforce whore so I have several variations of AirForce guns. This is my first Talon compared in size to the Leshiy with the 100mm shroud extension. It was a bit of a project gun. Started life as a .22. Changed it out to  a.25 barrel, spin lock tank conversion, carbon fiber tank, high flow top hat, heavier hammer and spring. I've got the Leshiy tuned down some to save air. Shooting around 720 fps. Figure I'm good for 10-12 shots. If I know I will be shooting it a lot I carry a regulated guppy bottle with me. I'm trying to recall what the Talon shot count is. I know it's a little low due to the modifications. It has a kick and mean sound that just makes me grin. I'm going to guess about 30 shots.

I love the Leshiy mainly because it folds in half for UTV use. So compact. Accuracy is great too. But I feel my Talon can hold it's own against it and shoot just under 900 fps.

Nice.  It looks like the Talonp really barks up a storm.  By the time I am done buying the sholder piece, moderator and everything else I should have just saved up for the Leshiy.  Is the Leshiy powerful and quiet stock?

I felt my .25 was backyard friendly stock. I put a DonnyFL shroud extension on just cause. Power is easily adjusted by a hammer spring allen in front of the gun. As mentioned I run mine a little low to save air. It will drop a jack rabbit. My only real complaint with the gun is he trigger. The break point never seemed predictable. I sent it to Earnest Rowe for a tweak and he installed the plunger style trigger stop on it. Nice improvement, but still not my favorite trigger. Also if you release the safety and then reset it it will fire upon re-release. I have to recock it to reset it. Minor quirk for such a nice gun. I've also seen an additional air tank available for them if shot count is a concern.

Rick,

I think something is not right with your gun. My Leshiy does not do this. I can take the safety off and then on and then off without issue.

I've heard of others doing it. I don't know if this video link will work but the author mentions a similar characteristic.

Google "Leshiy trigger mod" it's the one with a 12 minute video. He speaks of the same issue. About the 7 minute mark. I just recock mine if I ever end up not taking the shot and it has not been an issue. I have several times intentionally just pushed safety on again and it has fired.

As he mentions in the video, this is caused by "taking the safety catch off with the trigger pulled slightly". You apparently have a gun with a slightly weaker spring.

I'm trying to remember if it's after I start to pull the trigger or just upon resetting the safety. Seems to me it I release the safety and don't pull the trigger just resetting the safety can make it fire. I just re-cock it to be safe.

Although not micro the upcoming -2019 - Zbroia Sapsan (means "Peregrin" I think) could be an interesting option too. OAL should be in the region of 24".

I’ve been looking at short PCPs, and apart from the pistols with extensive mods and other special builds, the short or “compact” PCPs I’ve found are these:  ?

23.5" long = Taipan Veteran, Compact
350mm barrel | 25FPE | 53 shots/fill | 250bar tank pressure

23.0" long = Taipan Mutant, Short
??mm barrel | 25FPE | 45 shots | 250bar

25.0" long = EDgun Leshiy: folds for transport | single shot
250mm barrel | 24FPE(?) | 20(?) shots | 250bar

29.0" long = EDgun Leshiy 350mm barrel: folds for transport | single shot
350mm barrel | ??FPE | ?? shots | 250bar

20.0" long = EDgun Lelya [1.0]: Single Shot
??mm barrel | ??FPE | ?? shots | ??bar

23.5" long = EDgun Lelya 2.0
380mm barrel | 29FPE | 40 shots | 300bar

23.9" long = Ataman BP17
370mm barrel | 25FPE | 25 shots | 300bar

THOSE GUNS are the COOLEST looking toys I have ever seen! Especially the PP700S!

Would there be a carbon fibre bottle option to lighten the front end?

I have an AR style collapsible stock on one of mine but I really worry about the rigidity of the mounting hardware and requires raising the scope to extreme heights to get proper cheek weld and it still has quite a nasty bark to it even with the MrodAir LDC attached!

It is also rather awkward to cock the hammer with this set up. This is my 177 (well all 3 of mine are 177s) and wouldn't mind trying one in 22. The 177s are exceptionally accurate but am unsure how the 22s are since I haven't shot one in 22 yet.

This one pictured is mechanically stock, for the most part untouched (untuned, unfooled around with mechanically speaking) and it is LOUD even with the LDC. Reminds me of the LOUD report coming out of my 20fpe power tuned P-Rod (with only its factory shroud).

I have one with a custom machined Lothar Walther barrel and it is the most accurate of the 3 I have with a shrouded barrel and the other one is set up for Pistol FT (power bumped up) with a custom LDC that works.

I can't wait till the multi shot version comes out later this year.

IMAG0668 (1)

.

I don't own a Leshiy and haven't considered one (YET) because I already own a 177 Lelya 2.0 which is a repeater and realistically, I would probably buy a 22 Lelya 2.0 before a Leshiy in any caliber because I would prefer a repeater instead of a single shot.

I also own most of the first generation shorter single shot Lelyas in 177, 20 and 22 as well so I am good to go in the single shot dept and I haven't shot them in a very long time since getting my Lelya 2.0.

I can't shoot my TalonP because it is WAY TOO LOUD so I bought a 9" TalonTunes Gen6 for it and received it not too long ago but hadn't gotten around to installing it yet.

The TalonP has got to be one of the LOUDEST airguns I have ever shot!

I don't even know how well it groups because I ONLY shot it ONE TIME then put it right back in its box and waited for the cops to show up.

You need a DonnFL adaptor for the TalonP as well as for the PP700. The Mrod moderator was noisy for me as well. Shame is they both make the guns longer moderated ,but the good news is you can now shoot them noise guilt free.

https://donnyfl.com/ They are both listed on the same line under "Adapters".

The AirForce Sound-loc baffle system doesn't take enough bark out of a TalonP. Can't use all the baffles.

Just to be clear the shots I posted were with my modified Talon.

Speaking of AirForce noise. I had sent mine to Airforce to have the spin-loc conversion done and a high flow top hat installed. Forgetting the heavy hammer/spring mod I'd done before shipping. It came back and I was excited to try it out. At the time it had a Talon Tunes moderator on it. The first shot blew the moderator off and dropped the tank pressure 400 psi! I'd never experienced a noise so loud from any type of gun. My wife came outside to see what had happened. Scared the shit out of me!  I'm trying to gather scattered baffle pieces and act like "Oh, I meant to do that". Did a quick de-tune afterwards. ?

Install a smaller valve cap (spin lock )  That will instantly quiet it down.  Also check out Donnyfl if you can add Lead Dust Collectors to your gun in your state.

Should I be worried about installing my Gen6 9" TalonTunes to my 50+ FOOT POUNDS TalonP?

I don't want it to go BOOM!!!

This is what I have purchased but didn't install it yet.

You really got me worried now!

I don't believe it had a thing to do with the moderator. I used it again after putting a lighter hammer and hammer spring back in the gun. This was a gun I'd been messing around with using a heavier hammer and spring combination on to help overcome a small flow top hat. Granted I was winging it and not 100% sure of what my testing would result in. My mistake was installing a high flow top hat and a very heavy hammer/spring combination that was never meant to be combined. To lose the amount of air it did on one shot was amazing. Big bore slug shooters would be jealous. ?  Anyway, lesson learned and moderate away.

I just recently purchased a new folding stock from Vash for my Crosman.  Overall I am petty happy with the outcome.
