Nice. Thank you for posting that. Hector Medina had sent me photos of one a while back seeing if I would be interested in trying to make some. I may try it out.

Yes, it's an idea I have been trying to get going for some time, though my long term view is different:

In conversations with some of the key people in the ISSF (BTW, USA won gold medal in 10M airgun -men's AND women's-  at the India World's match a few days ago) about getting FT to be a sport that is sanctioned at an Olympic level, one of the objections posed has been that the re-set string makes for all sorts of problems, complaints, & challenges (meaning disputed scores).
Another objection (and this will tell you the "caliber" of the people that regulate sports at international level), is that "it looks silly" (not the exact word, but the exact word is not fit for public printing).

When we think closely, it also eliminates THE PERCEPTION of one aspect of an "even as possible" playing field because it is one competitor (whether the previous one, or oneself) the one that re-sets the targets, and that is a no-no. For the PERCEPTION OF EVENNESS to exist, targets have to be automatic (as in Biathlon) or an "officer" needs to reset them so that they will always be reset the same way.

A self-resetting target that could be "timed" properly would eliminate these objections.

Even more important is that, on the PRACTICAL side, it would eliminate one of the costs to operate an FT Club (Strings and winders); and the procedure to setup, as well as the take out, of the field would be cut in half. Lastly, the placing of targets in challenging locations would be a ONE time affair. Specially the high angle tree targets would be more reliable and easier to operate if there were "no strings attached". Challenging a high tree shot is a PIA for everyone.

Of course, splits will always pose a problem, but this type of target could be proper advance and progress for the sport.

Put one together this morning. If Paul is selling them for $60 it's a steal! One off targets take longer, but still a fair amount of work. I have to hand cut the face with a hobby plasma cutter. Had  a pretty good idea how the linkage should work and just started to cut things out. Got lucky and it works great. A .22 got full motion. I had a little 1720 pistol and at 20 yards it would do about a half drop. The tab hits the kill zone linkage so the face plate can't drop when hit. Hitting the kill zone moves the linkage past it and allows the linkage to move the target back.

I made the base to fit my "modular" target base system. I use the same bases for different targets.
