Hey all.
I was watching some YouTube videos this morning on air rifles. I was mainly looking at the Benjamin AKELA. I eventually came on a video about the Daystate Pulsar. I had no idea about this one. I don’t keep up with this stuff like I once did. It is a nice, futuristic looking Bullpup design and this one was in .22.
The guy starts shooting at paper and at 35 yards, I think, he was putting 5 shots into one hole. Nice, I thought. He backed up to 50 and did the exact same thing. This is getting interesting, I thought. Lastly he goes out to 100 and aside from a flyer, he puts 4 in the size that can be covered by a nickel! I thought that was pretty darned impressive! That’s match grade stuff for my 10/22 in 22LR. I was definitely impressed.
I figured it was a high dollar rifle and I was right. I think I saw it on “sale” for around $1,800 !! LOTSA money to play in that sandbox!
The guy mentioned that the pulsar also is available with a longer “sniper” barrel! I was thinking how can this thing get any more accurate?
Anyway, I am curious if there are other Bullpup rifles that can go shot for shot against the Pulsar and match it or even beat it? Will the Cricket rifles match it? What about any of the Air Force models?
For about the last hour I have been trying to devise a way to get into one of those Pulsar rifles! I was figuring what all I’d have to sell to get one!!?
Are all the Daystate rifles that accurate? What other rifles or Bullpup designs are in the same class as that Pulsar is?
I can tell that me watching that video this morning is gonna lead to bad things for my checkbook! Don’t know how long I can resist the temptation.
What’s your thoughts?
The Daystate Renegade is also a very accurate bullpup, but without the electronic firing mechanism/valve of the Pulsar. The main difference is, it has one power setting and you will get fewer shots at a consistent velocity level than with the electronic Pulsar. The FX bullpups are equivalent to the Renegade/Wolverine series of rifles. I believe they use a regulator for more consistent shot-to-shot performance and more shots per refill.
The Pulsar has the same electronics as the Red Wolf, and these rifles are an evolution of the electronics in the Air Wolf MCT, which are an evolution of the Air Wolf CDT, which are an evolution of the Air Wolf MVT. In short, fourth-generation. The new Delta Wolf is the fifth generation of this system, and also has a specially-configured Huma regulator to make it even easier for the electronics to give longer, more consistent shot strings. When you look at the shot-to-shot consistency it is pretty amazing, and the various reviews on Youtube tend to show one hole groups.
I think a quality regulated PCP rifle with a good barrel will shoot tight groups. The Daystates are among the best, however with a premium price, and the electronics that make the Pulsar/Delta Wolf and the various Air Wolfs so accurate are also a potential point of failure.
FX,All the ones made in the Czech Republic, also Brocock as a semi Bull Pup...and there are others.
Thing is most use the same brand barrel LW,,,,,thou CZ barrels are also great .
Most of those are around the $1500++ mark,,,,,The Akela is about $1000 less.
The best Bull pups are all about the same as far as accuracy.....It IS a matter of opinion which is the best and for what.
I shoot left handed and a lot of Bull Pups are Not Lefty friendly......also I want the bolt, lever in the middle of the gun.....
Daystates are great...but their bull pups are heavy.....
In the end as always it is the shooter and how they have mastered their rifle......

Every thing boscobrea said is dead on. l have several nice guns that are equally accurate but the Pulsar ranks very high up on the favorite list. It has the best trigger and i love the ease of multiple power settings most of the time im on low power for plinking. If I had to guess I would say most fellow owners feel the same. There are probably thousands of them out there and seldom due they show up for sale.if you can get your hands on one I’m willing to bet you will be happy .
As a pulsar owner, this rifle is double-edged. Excellent accuracy at 100 yards. Peanuts and army guys do not stand a chance. However, the rifle requires extra diligence and a clean barrel and new o-ring every 500 pellets.
The barrel has a very soft durameter o-ring that forms a seal for the bolt. If not changed on a regular basis this o-ring will tear and gets shot down the barrel. Has happened to me twice and is never convenient. Also I am sending it back to AoA for another reseal. Started to leak pretty consistently about two months ago. Your mileage may vary but mine is high maintenance.
