Spent the afternoon bringing back memories of my youth by shooting my Daisy model 25. Back in about 1947 or 48 I received a Daisy model 25 for my birthday and over the next few years wore it out. Today in my new model 25 I replaced the BBs with the daisy match grade BBs and boy did my accuracy improved to the point I could make cans dance all afternoon at 10 to 12 yards. Before with regular BBs I could not do that, so I pulled out my Daisy Red Rider and did the same thing and it turned into a fun gun for sure. I had purchased the match grade BBs for my new 499B rifle but for some reason they didn't work too well? I could drop a BB down the barrel of the 499B and 3 out of 4 times it would drop through, however at some point it stuck in the barrel tell me that it must not be perfect round. Anyone else have a similar problem? Anyway the 499B shot very well with standard BBs, the shiny ones. Charles
if anything, in this post, it makes me feel good to hear someone older than me still enjoying this hobby
i am 73 and shoot very little, very bad shoulder but tinker all the time
on the BB's being too small i can't help

I am eighty years old, and once in awhile I shoot a model 25, a model 880 and a model 499b.
Your 499b barrel might be a little dirty. If that doesn't solve the problem, Daisy sells new barrels for, I believe, $12 plus shipping.

Just 78 but:
I had my first Model 25 (1958) up until 2005.
It traveled the world with me.
Thirty-nine months in South Korea, 12 in Vietnam and five years in West Berlin, Germany.
In grade school the teachers would line up our 25s behind her desk.
We could only have them during recess and after school.
Of course they went with us for the Saturday double-feature.
Those were the days! We live in a different world today and it probably isn't going to get better. Charles
Charles,
You are correct.
Maybe next time we will get it right.
