so you cock the pistol and that sets the sear and closes the valve
you pump the pistol and should feel resistance while closing the handle if not the cylinder is dry and or the gun needs to have the wiper oiled and reoil the cylinder and if that doesn't work the piston Oring will need to be change and the large valve Oring also and retested
i leave the valve alone at this point
these are easy to fix until they are not and i have had the hard and easy ones
now the pumping of the cylinder has nothing to do with the trigger assembly
how long has this been sitting
@marflow I have had many Daisy 717 & Daisy 853 Air guns ! Had then Trigger Tuned and many Resealed but after 50 shots or more always Started to Leak ! Yes were Very Accurate and Quiet .Sold them all and never Looked back.Had a Sheridan for 15 years and over 10 rounds and never any problems . I also had a Gamo SSP Pistol when they first were Imported with Lifetime Warranty, Had it repaired 3 times from Gamo,No Charge. I did end up selling it ! Don't understand why I never had any Luck with SSP Air Guns. That is my reason for being a Springer shooter !
@marflow pumps up, no problem there. Just does not transfer the compressed air when triggered. Just a click. Here's the thing, when double pumped will dump all air. I did this with a loaded chamber not knowing of this. Thank God I didn't get hit or break a windows. When the four steps are followed(safety, cock, load, pump)squeeze trigger and click, that's all. How long has it sat? Probably along time. Bought at a gun show six months ago and has been fine. And now this. That's all I have. Oh and I did some reading from BB, that was only part 1. Need to read part.
so the gun was working at one point and as far as i know they do not have hands to take themselves apart
the click you hear is the trigger pulling the sear off the cocking link
with the pistol uncocked with the bolt handle forward the cocking link is engaged with the valve stem and it is open and when the bolt is pull back the it pushes the cocking link back and down and the sear is pushed forward and the cock link sits on the sear shelf
now i think the valve stem is frozen closed or it is the valve and that could be a very bad problem
in any case it needs to be taken apart and serviced
it is the amount of effort when closing the pump handle
have you oiled the wiper yet, that is a big deal is the wipe still there to add oil to
is the barrel clear or is there a pellet still in it
i am afraid the pistol needs some help in the way of new Orings
SSP gun do not like to sit around for any long time
a note
make sure the cocking handle end is 1.5 inch from the left clam shell with not compression
now i tell people that these are easy to fix until they are not and i have had a few trouble makers
i have one that i had changed the larger Orings twice but will leak down and then not leak down
took the valve apart today and the stem Oring looked okay bet the cap Oring was crumbly crap and slammed it back together and then it acted strange but at the same time i didn't notice the handle was miss adjusted and i am back to testing
the stem Oring is stated to be a 005 or 006 and the cap is a 012 i used a 006 on the stem
the clip that is on the valve stem need a pair of pliers to push it off but do not lose it, it is not a part and then it goes back on with the pliers and recrimped
just some info
If the gun has the thin celluloid washer that compresses the valve stem o-ring, try to find or make a metal washer of the same dimensions. The celluloid flex's away from the stem o-ring so the o-ring doesn't seal properly. HTH
i got the pistol to not leak great news, well sort of
but now the pistol well not dump the full charge of air
in the valve there is a black p[lastic piece that sits of the spring and the stem Oring sits on that
so, i could pump up the pistol and pull the trigger valve is empty
so, i can pump up the pistol and let sit over night and can get 2 to three weak shots the next day
it is a WTF is going on, now i have 7 or 8 of these pistols i can take them apart in my sleep
if the valve is pulled open there can be no air left and i have screwed around with this for a long while
got some 005 Orings coming should make no difference
got a stem clamp coming to replace the clip and that could be adjusted to pull open more, but the statement makes no sense
the pistol has been my test mule and it could be a parts gun real soon
i have always said these are very easy to work on till they are not and i have one that just doesn't want to play
Hello, here are two links.
Read the description on the link below.
HTH...
Shooter II
i got my 005 valve stem Orings in and the collars that i ordered
added the parts to my 717 and so far so good
now the collars are a game changer for those who had valve troubles because you do away with that damn clip
Bore 1.55 to 5.05mm Stainless Steel Shaft Collar Metal Clamp Collar M3 Screw DIY | eBay
i used the 3.05mm
so what caused the pistol not to use all of it air unknown and we are in testing and the gun never leaked
