What do you do if you have an extra stock from a Weihrauch HW95, and a trigger guard, and a slingshot ?

Buy a slingshot rifle trigger and you build an SSR (Sling Shot Rifle) !

Finished up my first custom SSR (Sling Shot Rifle)... fun project... made a few changes a long the way... the major change was making an adjustable length "barrel", so I could have enough band stretch... or maybe too much band stretch... HAH !

I used the original stock that came on my Weihrauch HW95 spring piston air rifle, that I replaced with a custom stock several years ago... the inletting for the action was perfect for the trigger mechanism with just a little bit of tweaking... and I used the original trigger guard that was also replaced with a custom one, also with a little tweaking, mainly so the trigger would not rub on the inside of the guard.

Made an indoor target using a show curtain and box from a TV set... setup in front of my airgun targets, and can be easily moved out of the way.
I originally tried a Daisy B52 Slingshot from Walmart with tubular bands, but decided to use a Chinese stainless steel one that I got off ebay.
Used a set of flatbands that I got from Simple Shot for my Hammer XT slingshot, since they were better quality than the ones that came with the Chinese sling shot... flat bands and over the top shooting is way better than the tubular ones... so I hear !

@jim_in_swmo Thanks ! Tinkering is a lot of fun, especially when it turns out well !

I rediscovered slingshots this past summer... I like feeding the visiting grey/black squirrels shelled peanuts (they prefer the salted ones, as I do)... I call them my "survival" food (squirrels and peanuts)... HAH !

I dug out an old slingshot that I bought many years ago as a kid... the tube bands were dry-rotted, so I bought a long length of tubing and replaced them... I figured I would try shooting the shelled peanuts at the squirrels or at least try to get close to them... they loved it... my wife gets a kick out of it too !

Then I fell down another hobby rabbit hole and started browsing the internet for slingshot info, and YouTube videos... HOLY CRAP ! Amazing how good some of these guys can shoot them... and the variety available, along with the bands... and you can shoot arrows too !

I have another idea for an SSR where I can load the ammo in the pouch and into the trigger easily, then push the slingshot out to the stretched position for firing... there's a guy on YouTube who has all kind of ingenious ideas !

Luckily, I have another air rifle stock from my R9 that got replaced with a custom stock... works a lot better than a 2x4 piece of lumber !

Here is my old slingshot, and a few visitors...

You've got black squirrels? Cool. Wish we had some of those here. All we have here are the grays with a rare sighting of a fox squirrel now and then.

BTW, I know of another member here who also spoils his squirrels with peanuts and also uses a slingshot to chuck them out to the squirrels, lol. But I'll admit that I had a little gray that got pretty spoiled here too, lol. He came up to me on his own one day when I was feeding the birds and we ended up being buddies for a little over 5 years, lol. He used to jump up on the handrail of the back steps and look thru the window to let me know he was here. LOL

@jim_in_swmo

The black squirrels started showing up several years ago, and now they outnumber the grey and little red squirrels.

Some of the squirrels will come right up to me and take a peanut from my hand... some will come up to the back patio door and knock on the window looking for a peanut !

And they will drink out of my wife's watering can that she has sitting on the patio sandstone wall !

When I shoot my air rifles outdoor, I usually setup my little shooting bench, lawn chair, and little radio playing MP3 music... I also keep a container of peanuts by my chair because the squirrels would see me and come right up to me looking for peanuts... while I'm shooting... HAH !

They are amusing... the chipmunks are a different story... they best not get in my line of fire !

I think I missed the chrony thread... but the idea of setting up my chrony (ProChrono DLX) for slingshots has crossed my mind... maybe this winter when I get snowbound and curious (or bored) !
