Did a search and all that comes up are steel barrel results.

I have a couple of nicks I want to “dress up”.

Considering the brass screw method.

Hesitant to use valve grinding compound on brass.

Is 600 grit w/d paper better or ?

Any one done a brass barrel?

thanks!

Yes you can use the brass screw method on a brass barrel.  It’s worked great on Benjamin barrels I’ve done.  Just keep the RPMs and pressure low.  Excessive heat and pressure could push a wire edge into the bore, leaving a burr.  I keep the speed under 200rpms or so, and with the muzzle facing up, I limit the pressure to somewhere around 1 pound (less than the weight of the drill).

Lastly I recommend something less aggressive than valve compound on brass in particular.  J-B Bore Compound is plenty.

Good luck with it!

BTW here's an example of a 397PA I did a few weeks ago.  It was already dished pretty deep but there was no definition to the rifling and lands so I went until it looked crisp.
