Hey everyone, I have rebuilt a 400 for a customer and the magazine is missing. I have searched the web and can't seem to find any. I made one with my lathe & mill but it just isn't working very well. I would like to get one to get all of the correct dimensions so that I can start producing them so folks can find them when needed. So, if you have one to sell or even one I can borrow I would appreciate it. Have a great Sunday & happy shooting 🔫
Hi and I think I have one but will have to check.
Hi Bob, thanks for replying. I appreciate it
@big_j No problem. I will check tomorrow if I can remember. If I don't get back with you message me again and remind me.
i think you will find that the spring that you used is way to strong
I was thinking the same thing. I noticed that the picture makes the spring look thicker than it is but I think it is still to thick. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it
Wind a spring around a mandrel out of music wire and stress relieve it in the oven. You should be able to find the right gauge. On your lathe do a couple wraps and engage the half nuts. Then after the correct # turns disengage the nuts for a couple wraps. At least you could make a few. Don't know where else to get that spring. Same spring that a 600 uses? Probably
A gentleman used to sell repro 400 mags but I haven't seen any for a while
I made a couple years ago, before repro's were available. The spring from a 600 or a 99 is usable, cut down to give appropriate force. Once the $40 repops came along it sure didn't seem worth the time & effort.

@oldair Thanks for that info. I appreciate it. I did see a thread on GTA from about ten years ago about making some. Were those yours?
@kwk Thanks for the input. I have actually been looking into to making some springs on the lathe.
@bob_in_wv Hey Bob, did you have any luck on the magazine? Thanks
Hi J, I do have one. PM me your address and I will send it to you to use.
the mag that Crosman made were really at a high level of craftmanship.
the tooling to make the tube would be interesting to see
to take a flat piece of metal and form it too what it is
then you have the rear spring button and the front spring follower
i got one the Sears branded 400's for Christmas of 1959 i was 9 and they were under 30 bucks
there is a lot of work to build a 400 for that kind of money
inflation calculator says 322.00 today give or take
i will be watching what you come up with
that is interesting
if the print would hold up to careful use it would be a solution for many
there are many seller, selling these rifles and the mag is missing, and the metal repos are long gone
i would thing the color would be better in black or dark grey
make some put a price on them you will find many buyers
I guess David doesn't want to make the repos anymore. Haven't had any contact with him for a few years
i would vote for black
make them and they would sell
i think you will find that the spring that you used is way to strong
Someone passed one on to me (last year?) that I had to cut two coils off the spring for it to feed better.
still, appreciated it!
@marflow I inherited a 400 without the magazine. I have tried to find one and I fashioned one too. My efforts have come up short. I would like to purchase one that works. Can anyone help me?
Hey there, shoot Mike Baker an email. Last I knew he had them in stock.

This isn't a current offer, but you might try contacting this fellow. He lists these from time to time when he has them made up.

Same guy. Yeah, that's a lot better price
Same guy. Yeah, that's a lot better price
ad states it was a little lower because of a blemish in the bluing.
