I am installing new seals in my Crosman 38C and I need advice on how to remove the teflon seating ring and o-ring from the valve body. After several attempts, I managed to remove the valve washer but the seating ring and o-ring won't budge.

I use a dental pick. Sometimes they are mashed and stuck. Carefully remove it then clean with rubbing alcohol. Make sure you get all the old seal out.

Good luck

A little trick for certain co2 guns like the 38. I drilled a hole in an old co2 cartridge then soldered a copper tube and fitting to it so I can test guns with bulk fill instead of wasting a new cartridge. Just use gas don't fill it with liquid through the siphon tube. Get it? 🙂

The dental pick worked for me. Thanks for the tip.

I removed the final seal and installed the new seal kit. I reassembled the pistol and it functions as it should. I loaded a new CO2 cartridge and it's not leaking but it won't pass gas through through the system.

Do you have any suggestions as to what went wrong?

Yes.

I backed the screw out to check.

Crosman 38C Schematic

You might have accidentally put the valve stem spring in backwards, the gun will not work if this is the problem. Or the piercing pin is plugged.

The piercing pin was plugged with what appeared to be a very small fragment of lead.

That piercing pin was brand new and was not plugged when I installed it. I guess it came off of the CO2 cartridge.

Thanks again for your help. I'll try it out tomorrow. I have some other stuff that needs my attention today.
