I'm looking to get a pcp air rifle. I'm looking at the marauder field and target and the fortitude gen 2. Seems like they're both pretty close performance wise as far as fps and shots per fill. I imagine accuracy wise also if I go with the crossman barrels on the field and target. Just wondering where the large price difference comes into play.
The trigger is much better on the Marauder and a bigger air tube too.
Thanks for the feedback bob, but I think the airtubes are the same size. So we have a difference of a better trigger. That doesn't justify double the price. What else am I missing?
I have a Fortitude and have had several Marauders. The Fortitude has a stock made for open sights but has none. The comb is WAY to low. The trigger is a joke unless you change it to a Marauder trigger. The Marauder is worth 5 times more than a Fortitude, in my opinion. If you are looking at a .177 Fortitude, l will make you a deal. The Fort air tube is 7/8" od while the M'rod tube is 1.25" od. The Fort is light and quick handling, the M'rod (in my opinion) is a Moose of a rifle that I wouldn't want to lug around. However, If all you are going to do is bench shoot, weight and heft are your friend.
Out of the box the M'rod has a second to none trigger. The Fort has the same Crosman trigger group as the 2260, Disco. and Maximus. With a bit of work it can be made much better if you need the best the 1st gen M'rod triigger group can be fitted.
Something I left out...The Fort is regulated, the standard M'rod is not.
