Today I received my second Daisy 853 rifle and it looks almost new.   And I spent 2 1/2 hours enjoy shooting it this afternoon.  For me at about 12 yards it was a real tack driver and so easy to operate.  Just wondering if any of you have similar experience with the CMP rifles?  Charles

@sekiar  is there a Silencer that will fit the Daisy 853 ? Neighbors are getting closer every year which is why I prefer shooting my Modified Crosman 1377 with Buck Rail Silencers ! I would like to try a Daisy 853 from CPM ! Love all my HW Rifles and Pistols but just a little to Loud for Backyard Shooting! And I shoot from Inside my shed and range is 40 feet away ! Crosmans are mouse Fart and easy to cock !

The barrel (if like my 853C) is 7/16"

I sent to BuckRail and got their press on moderator for the Crosman 2240, without the front sight.

I had to ream it a tiny bit with sand paper to fit but it works fine.

I'm in an apartment, and have close neighbors.

To me they are not very loud, however I have no close neighbors, but today I was shooting my 853 setting on my front porch with my wife inside about 12 ft away and she said she only saw me shooting and did not hear the rifle.  But without trying it for your self there is no way to be sure.  Shure hope you can work it out as it's the best bargain rifle available today.  Good luck   Charles

I opted for a moderator as most of my shootings indoors (apartment)

I can sneak down to the back lawn sometimes when the snows gone. 😉
