Where to get 1 that works every shot, sick'n tired of chasing back and forth resettin. Kind'a takes the fun out of keep'n track of things.
My FX chronograph will usually work for around 95-99% of the shots provided I keep the sensitivity setting at its highest (which in terms of the chronograph itself translates to the lowest number value, silly swedes). At lower sensitivity levels (read as higher on the chronograph setting again) it will often miss projectiles, even at the default level. Before that I was using an older prochrony and that was really hard to get it working reliably with changes in light/shade or any rain or snow, probably was closer to 65-80% of shots recorded.
I have never had an issue with my Competition Electronics Pro Chrono.
I had a Chrony for several years that would work great for powder burners, but it had many errors on air guns.
Agree with Jim on the Pro Chrono. I'm primarily a .177 shooter and I've had very few issues with mine. I use it in the basement with the LED light kit and have had very few errors. Even when I forgot and left the fluorescent lights over the workbench on, generally a no-no when using a chrono indoors.
Mine is an older Pro Chrono Digital (now discontinued) and I use the Digital USB Link (also discontinued) with it. It's a wired connection to my laptop. Makes it so much easier to see the readings on the laptop screen. It also has an audio voice option that "tells" you the velocity of the shot, lol. And it saves the shot strings so you can go thru them later.
FWIW, the current Pro Chrono DLX has Bluetooth built in. So if you use a smart phone or laptop you can most likely connect the two and not have to keep going to the chrono to read the display, etc. I'm sure the Bluetooth version will do the same things mine does with the Digital Link but without the wired connection getting in the way.
I also have the ProChrono DLX with blue tooth... purchased it about a year ago.
It works great... a lot better than my Beta Chrony that I struggled with for years with not recording shots.
I've only use it in my 14 yard basement range... I originally tried using the ProChrono with the light kit from my Beta Chrony, but kept getting missed shots... so I purchased the ProChrono LED light kit, and it works pretty much most of the time.
Love the bluetooth and app on my iphone, being able to email the results to myself so I can keep a digital record, instead of writing everything down like I did with my Beta Chrony.
I hear good things about the FX chronograph, and uses Doppler radar instead of two light sensors... also has bluetooth and smartphone app... Pyramyd Air sells them... costs about $200.
+1 on the Pro Chrony although mine is about 5 years old now. Error codes are few and far between but take that with a big grain of salt since all my shooting is outdoors with it. I also bought the external blue tooth link for it. Paired real nice to my smart phone, the little voice tells me fps for every shot and I can save and email the pdf files of my shot strings from the bench and have them waiting in my inbox after everything is packed away.
I have used a few and today is the FX radar, practical accuracy and better size.
What kind of accuracy % is the Pocket FX capable of? I’m mystified that value is not given on any spec sheet that I’ve seen.
I am using the upside down Caldwell unit. So far, so good.

I've been using an FX chrony for several months now with no issues other than it's tough on batteries. I compared it side by side to my Shooting Chrony Beta and the readings are the same.
Have you tried rechargeable NiMH AAA batteries ?
I typically shoot 15-shot strings through an ancient Chrony Alpha. It will occasionally choke on a shot, but that doesn't affect the string you're shooting or force you re-set anything. Ya just keep going and it spits out the string's high, low, average, and standard deviation with no problem.
@straitflite Comparing it side by side with my Chrony Beta it is similar or better, less error prone and the size is like comparing a '70s computer to today's PCs.
I've had pretty good luck with my Combro muzzle-mounted chrony. Totally ambient-light-insensitive. Available in the UK, but shipping isn't bad, and mine arrived PDQ. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to like some of my CO2 guns.

I have and do. The FX Pocket chrono eats batteries bad. Plus, a fully recharged set of NiMHs start out at 40% full so drop below useful levels kinda fast. So I use two sets - one one the charger and one in the box. If I'm trying to chart several strings, I don't even put the battery door on as screwing the cover on and off turns out to be frustrating. Charting CO2 performance is the worst - cuz the whole picture changes with each shot ... miss a few and the string is useless... Yeah - I have a love/hate relationship with my FX Pocket chrono.
Try the cheap orange one that you get at Amazon, indoors, outdoors, light, no light......it always work,
No need to set up at a bench and stuff just tape it to the end of the shroud.
If you want total reliablilty, then get the IR light sources appropriate to your Chrono.
