I just purchased this Career 707 single tube carbine with a small leak. As I degassed the air tube and heard the loud blast of air slowly diminish to zero, I then noticed that air would still be inside the tube every time I pushed on the hammer with my finger. So every time I opened the valve with my finger a puff of air would be expelled. This continued until the air tube was finally empty. Upon taking it apart I noticed it's not like the other countless Career's I've owned and repaid over the years. When I opened up the rear of the air tube I noticed what looks to me as a regulator.
I don't want to continue to take it apart until I figure out what these parts are. Did Shin Sung ever make a regulated 707 from the factory ? If not, what kind of parts/set up is this ? Any help or lead would be appreciated. I'm baffled with this one. Thanks in advance…..
Does that have a power wheel like a Sumatra? I've never taken anything but an Evanix Rainstorm down in the Korean category, so, I'm not much help. I recently learned my self about how easy it is to switch from a probe to a $20.00 quick fill attachment on the other end of a Sumatra tube. No need to de-gas it. It's got a secondary stop check on the fill system. I have no idea if yours is anything like this.
I think you know, if you run into any troubles, Will Piatt of Saddle Mountain Gunsmith can easily fix any Korean PCP, or he will help you over the phone, as it seems you're experienced enough to get this far. If you want the entire thing resealed, tuned to optimal performance, he won't send you down Broke Back Mountain, LOL. He's a good Man that will help if he can without saying it HAS to be sent to him.
Though keep in mind, it's an older rifle and if anything like valve face needs turning down or replaced, Mr. Piatt is the man to do it. He's in The Carolinas for reference if it has to go that way. Good luck. I'll be watching to see how this system works.

I feel it's some sort of pressure regulator but how is it adjusted ? Is it factory present for a country which regulates power output (England) thus non adjustable ?
Update.... The people I've contacted for clarification/information on this gun have never seen this set up before. One did suggest it "appear to be a regulator of sorts", that it may be "a prototype rifle as those look like Korean parts". I agree with him so last night I changed all the seals, put it together and gassed it up. This morning I checked and it's still holding pressure, so far so good. When I turned on my Chrony to get a shot string I realized I left it on last time I used it and killed the 9volt battery. I will pick a 9volt on my way back home from work tonight and see what happens. I hope I'm not boring anyone but I'm kinda thrilled to have stumbled across the only known Career 707 with a factory equipped regulator. If there are others out there please contact me.
I forgot to mention that in the chamber that houses the piston with two Orings is a hole that vents out. An air regulator vent hole ? I hope so… The theaded hole seen in this picture is to secure the wood hand guard. The small vent hole is on the opposite side of that.
Very interested as I believe I heard they, Sumatras, could not be regulated other than an inline off tank and I don't see any with no creep, fast equalizing times, or full adjustability under $200-300
They can be internally regulated. Allen Z can modify a Huma to work in them. There is an older regulator for a Sumatra or career 707 that has a 380cc air cylinder. I actually have one, but I never installed it in the Sumatra I had with a 380cc because I didn't want to mess with venting the air cylinder.
