I`m considering to buy a used and in general good conditions BSA SUPER 10 MK2 and please will appreciate your advise and comments about:

  1. Operating issues to check
  2. A pdf user manual
  3. A new spare parts supplier link/info to contact.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • @tito does it hold air pressure, has it been modded, messed with etc. Be careful!

The Super 10 was never well supported in the US, and I suspect, got no support throughout the whole western Hemisphere.  So,parts are probably going to come from the UK, try the usual suspects, one mentioned, add Knibbs and Chambers.

Most common issue is the o-ring for the buddy bottle, they go bad from screwing the bottle in and out. Get a bunch of spares.  Oh, and make sure you have a fill adapter for the bottle if you don't already have one.  The other issue is that the regulator will fail at some point and you will basically shoot it as if unregulated until you get it fixed.  Where?  I don't know who services the regulators other than in the UK.

Otherwise, these guns are very reliable, well built, and rarely have other issues unless the owner has 'tinkered' with it.

Just my $0.02

I have a really nice Mk3 walnut Bull Carbine (rare). I've considered converting to newer mags and forgo the troublesome rocker style. But I never shoot it. I'm a real springer guy. I would probably if I had more time so it waits. The regs are hard for most to get apart so make sure nobody buggered it up with pliers and such. Used parts are sometimes available on eBay UK but they're so paranoid about shipping to US due to the horrible UK nanny state regulations. Some will ship, though.

@eeler1 Thanks for your reply. I have the fill adapter and tested the rifle. The rifle has no leaks. I`ve read about the buddy bottle Oring problem. Dos it happens every time you remove it to charge? Even when follow the instructions manual procedure? I`ve tested a few pellets and its accuracy is excellent, but the magazines doesn`t cycle correctly.

@kwk Thanks for your reply. Have you had problems with the magazines? Is it possible to get spares magazines? Could you please advise about spares parts suppliers?

Regards

One of my two mags  has issues. A lot of owners remove the advance mechanism from the gun and use the redesigned for R10 and Gamo, etc. mags that self advance and are easier to load. Cheaper too. Cool gun but I just never really connect with PCP. I've had them 30 years and mine mostly collect dust. I really only shoot my break barrels. BSA prewar underlevers on occasion.

@tito not every time, you might get 50 changes or more before they fail.  But they always seem to fail at the worst possible time, which is probably why it sticks in my mind.  So just carry a few with your pellets and spare magazines.

Come to think of it, spare magazines and a spare buddy bottle are highly desirable.  You can find them on ebay probably.
