I got the X-Sight 4K and I am looking for a good affordable (or not) IR light that has a beam you can focus like a mag light…allowing you to reach out long distances if you want too. I saw an airgun video once where the guy had found a good light like that after trying a few…but I can't find it now. One that is gun mountable would be best (not a hand held).
Please post your thoughts on good IR beams for a night vision scope. Light strengths and stats would also be helpful as I know nothing about those.
Thanks -Nate
Not a fan of ATX, they do not offer anything that is spring-gun suitable, and I find it "interesting" that a $650 scope/sight that is advertised as NV capable does not already come with an illuminator.
Anyway.
You need to be more specific.
Long distances in airgunning are not as long as in surveillance, or HP shooting.
As far as Airguns are concerned, you really do not need more than 150 yards. 100 yards and inside for shooting, 50 yards more for spotting incoming.
I would suggest the Pulsar 808S Laser.
Not expensive and it peaks at 250mW in the 780 nm wavelength range.
Depending on how well your X-Sight aligns with the rail where you want to mount the illuminator you may, or not, need an adjustable base.

Hector, in your post above, I don't know if you meant ATN sight (you typed ATX) but just FYI the ATN X-sight comes with a very capable illuminator, in the box from the factory. I have one & although I don't shoot past 50-75 yards, it works very well out to there with fresh batteries, and I'm shooting barnyard rats. I would think it would be even better if one was shooting bigger game.. I keep it on its lowest setting, its so bright.
Nate, I confess I dont shoot long distances, so I cant speak to any other illuminator than the factory one I mentioned.
Sorry, 218 Bee; guess it is what happens when you try to type two things at the same time, LOL!
Yes I was referring to ATN, the "X" came about because Nate asked the specific question on the 4K X-sight
As is often the case, there are two versions of the 4K, the "Pro" does include the illuminator, but the "Buckhunter" does not. At least per ATN's specs in their website.
Let's allow Nate time to tell us what is the situation and WHAT he wants changed. The range of prices for illuminators can go from $45 to $4,500.
Anyway, keep well and shoot straight!
