Soooo, I found a Beeman Kodiak in a pawnshop, and when I got it home, discovered it won't cock. I took the stock off and the main sear doesn't raise far enough to latch. It will latch if I help it, but no cleaning or lube (no disassembly) has helped. Any ideas, known things to look for?
TIA
Possible someone's been into it before... maybe lost a sear spring, etc.?
Mebbe try finding an exploded view of the trigger-group and check for anamolies.
Sounds like something may be rubbing...
back out the trigger adjustment screw 1 turn and try to cock it.
adjustment screw turned in too far will result in the problem you have.
No difference on trigger adjustment.
I seem to remember that some of these guns had issues with the trigger. The cage isn't welded correctly to the receiver, so the sear does not engage properly. In time it wears enough to stop engaging and the trigger adjustment has no effect. The trigger just stops working.
Watching the action while attempting to cock it with the stock removed (no small feat I might add), the sear doesn't lift into place. It stops well before it could latch the piston. If I lift the sear with a pick while holding at full cock, it clicks into place and operates like you would expect. So I am going to guess that something is worn, interfering or broke. I guess I will disassemble for a look before finding a service facility for it.
I suggest sending it to David Slade.
