Just wondering... after all my years of airgunning, I don't recall anyone using masking tapes to cover holes on a target.

About the only thing regular masking tape is good for.

But I do quite frequently, especially when shooting an air pistol... shooting my .22 Hy-Score 802RB Target Air Pistol.

Isn't that what it is for? To mask the holes in targets. DUH!

What department could they put it in at home/hardware stores?  The target department?  There's no such thing! 🙂

My favorite stores have a "target department"... wish I had more favorite stores.

I get really confused at Target... everything there looks like a target !

I would think electrician's tape, like the black stuff, would be too stretchy to tear off a piece by hand to cover a hole... scissors would be needed... plus the target would get all black from the tape and be harder to see, unless you color the front sight with white paint or nail polish, which I often do, or I use orange nail polish.

I have my paper targets with the 1 1/2" circle. I shoot out the center at 27 yards, then I shoot a hole at 12, 3, and 9 o'clock positions and use these for more spots to shoot at. I get 5 targets from every 1 1/2" target. I have 20 of these 1 1/2" circles on each piece of paper, so I get my money's worth. ?

Yeah, but masking tape is cheaper than ink cartridges... unless you're printing them on someone else's printer ! ?

You know if you use enough masking tape, the paper target becomes "self-healing" almost... just press & flatten out the hole, and occasionally use a piece of tape to cover a hole blow out ! ?

Tape is often applied to the back side as well !

Photo taken with scarred target held up to a light.

Air pistol being shot is my .22 Hy-Score 802 at 20 feet... still trying to get decent groups... seems impossible, but it is fun to shoot !

They sound like they might be useful, but I've never heard of or seen them before.  Do you have a link, or at least the name of a supplier?  Thanks.

Yes,I do this!

Blank printer paper,or back side of used, make one shot, then use that to sight in on. Also, a black marker can be handy for marking flyers.

Another thing is the blank, neon colored, yard sale stickers,to use for target dots. There are also white, to cover holes you've already made.

That's funny and efficient lol

What about standing the roll of tape and shooting it towards the top to get it rolling, rechamber etc....see how many times you can make it pick up speed.... ?

Ed... I just did a search on ebay for "target pasters" and a bunch showed up... Amazon also.

I may look into getting some... but I have a couple rolls of masking tape that I have had for years to use up first... I rarely use regular masking tape for anything these days, especially for painting... the blue masking tape is best for that and other options, like using them to label things with a magic marker... regular masking tape is often too hard to remove, especially after being stuck on something, even for a short period of time.

Well Ken, my first search just instantly opened the Target Store home page.  Not to be easily-deterred, I went to Amazon and gave it a try.  Voila'!  I can't believe I've been around this sport for as long as I have and never heard of these things before.

Looking a little further, the idea of white (most of all), then black masking tape would probably be the best choice for my application here, to cover smaller holes than the 1" circles, and I see that they sell that, too.  I thought of trying to find white masking tape awhile back, but never got around to it.  I think I may have to get a roll or two.

You know, sometimes I get the feeling that Amazon sells everything.  So, on a ridiculous whim, I just now entered "grandmother" in the search field.  While they don't actually sell the human version (I recently saw that in an old Twilight Zone episode), they DO sell some figurines.  Yep, 'Amazing'.
