Hi I just asked a friend who has an Amazon account to order some 22 caliber pellets. Amazon requested my driver's license number. I guess I'm out of the loop, but does Amazon think that it's selling firearms ammunition?

I have my wife order Crosman CPs  from her Amazon Prime account because they have the best price and free shipping, they never ask anything.

Might be a California thing instead of Amazon. If that's the case, then Amazon may simply be doing what they have to before they can ship them to a California address.

Amazon wouldn't send a Pinty laser sight to me, but e-Bay did. Ebay also just sent me  a Crosma P-1322 pistol to me. So I think we're being fuckerberged here in CA. Or maybe I don't know it but my friend accidentally ordered powder actuated 22 ammo lol.

@felinis Yesterday I checked my friend's Amazon account on her own PC, and the order looks correct. (Amazon, unlike eBay, doesn't give a delivery date). So I just wonder why Amazon asked me for my driver's license number. No big deal though, because I'm just trying to save money - I could go down the street and order them from a local store for four times the price. To me, ordering from Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, Wish, Ali Express, are all just ordering directly from China, and I feel real bad that all our manufacturing is now in China. But I go against my own feelings because I even ordered a green laser pointer from eBay for two and a half dollars with no shipping charges that won't get here until late February, just because it's two and a half dollars instead of $20. Smdh.

Are you guys for real?  I pay 15-25% less for pellets from several sources than I can find on Amazon.  DonnyFL, Pyramyd Air... much better prices than Amazon.  Free shipping doesn't always equate to a better deal.  And I say this as someone who spends a lot of money on Amazon annually.

Just tried to buy three tins of .30 cal on Amazon and DonnyFL.  Amazon is $96.15 and DonnyFL is $62.03.

I don't overpay via Amazon regardless how convenient it is.

It all depends on the individual circumstances. A couple years ago I ordered Crosman Premier .22 pellets from Amazon for about $6.50 per tin of 500. They were still labeled "Made in the USA." I ordered a bunch. That was the best deal going at the time. Sure, I could drive down to Walmart and find that they were the same price but out of stock, but that's annoying.

I just checked again and they are now about $10 for 500 and marked Made in Brazil. So prices change, country of manufacture changes, quantity per tin changes. Pay attention or pay extra.

@blowgun If they asked for your drivers license it was probably a requirement set by the third party vendor selling through amazon marketplace. It's just like buying pellets at my local Walmart sets off the cashiers alarm to check identification for age, after all I might be a 10 year old in a 38 year old's fat bearded man disguise!

Order mine from PA, shipped to California and they have never asked for Drivers license. Also, bought at WallyWorld and a local sporting goods store with no hassle. Perhaps my gray beard helps?

Odd, Amazon never asks for any sort of driver's license or anything like this. I bought air guns, pellets, sights, scopes, lasers, etc. No problem at all. Fast shipping, low prices, easy returns if something goes wrong. I'm in California as well. How did they ask you for DL anyway? A message via Amazon?

@joelongbow

Only the best company out there making moderators for PCP and selling AEA pellets.

I linked them in my post, did you click on it?
