I've been getting antsy for a "Treat myself" gun. I went into Utah Airguns to see what I needed more than they did. ?  I was just going to get another AirMaks Katran in a .177 Compact. It for sure needed a moderator and that put it at a length I was not as happy with.

They had just gotten in a AirMaks Caiman in a .177. As soon as I held it the Katran was out of the running. It just felt like my Mutant Shorty. The noise level was acceptable but I was really looking for pure stealth. We removed some shroud tubes and put a Donny FL Tatsu on it. Wow, really all you hear is hammer noise. Perfect for what I wanted.

Put a Optisan CP 3-12x32 scope in it. That's my new favorite for compact guns. Did a sight in on their indoor range and headed home to shoot it some.

Forward cocking can be switched to either side. It came set up on the left. Fill probe. I don't know why foster fittings are not the norm. 3 bar fill with a 190 cc capacity air tube. This is not the X model that has a longer barrel and more air capacity. 400 mm barrel.

In the .177 it is a 12 shot magazine. Rotary load as you turn. Comes with 2 magazines, fill probe and a degassing tool.  I bought an extra magazine and they all have a slight difficulty getting the last pellet in. Smooth cocking and zero cycling issues so far. I don't like the fact there is not a magazine stop to let you know you are out of pellets. Dry fires like the old Wildcats when empty.

Trigger has a wonderful break and is very predictable. I could see no adjustment on it. Here is the average of three pulls.

I thought I'd better clean the barrel before seeing how it would group. I was just using a pull through string trimmer line type set up. Man it was HARD to pull it through! Pretty dirty in my opinion.

The chrony spread wasn't bad. Doesn't seem to have the regulator needing to break in as in some new guns.

I think it will actually group better. I had a few sighter shots that put the pellet in the same hole several times. Wind had come up and I was losing light. It didn't do as well with the Hade's pellets.

Size compared to a Mutant Shorty. The Mutant does not need the moderator. The Caiman doesn't "need" it but I do like the additional noise reduction.

What it weighed in at with a scope and three loaded magazines.

I think it will be quite happy under my truck seat. ?

Calm morning so I stretched it out to 50 yards. Still using FX 10.3 gr pellets.

I knew the 28 yard could tighten up a bit.

It mainly lives under the back seat of my truck. Never has lost air and hits what I aim at. .177's sure don't leave the dent of the bigger bores. ? ?
