Story time!
My uncle past away 2 years ago. He left a whole estate for myself and family to sell/go through when he did. One of the items is a cool air gun it's a 50 cal. Shin Sung career 50 dragon. I posted it on ebay, it was up for under a day and then flagged and taken down after having received bids. Apparently you can't sell 50 caliber Air guns on ebay. Then I tried signing up for air gun nation forum, created an account, said I had to wait for approval. Just checked in and they booted me for spam!? Before I even interacted or posted anything. What's with the air rifle gatekeeping? Haha. Why is it so hard to sell this rifle? Does anyone have suggestions where I should go to sell? I might try here but I wanted to check people's opinions first.
Thanks!
Ebay doesn't allow airguns over .25
Airgun Nation requires ten quality posts to keep scammers at bay. Members are leery of of new posters selling right away too.
You can sell here or Airguns. net with no requirements, but if you are an unknown poster with no feedback or presence here, it probably won't sell.
Another option, Gunbroker. I sell and buy there all the time. Again though, if you have no feedback there it could be a difficult sell.
Another option, the airgun show season is starting up soon. Take it to the Indiana Airgun Show, Carlisle, Airgun Show, Midwest Airgun show, Baldwinsville show or Hickory airgun show.
Or last option, since you don't seem to be interested in airguns, take it to a local pawn or gun shop and take what they give you.
I just saw your ad too and for what it's worth, $300 on Shin Sung that you don't know if it works or holds air is way too much.
Roscoe;
By the manometer your rifle has, it is at least 17 years old.
MOST probably, it will need a full service and that will set you back between $100 and $200 because the Shin Sung's require a special tool for the disassembly of the valve section. So, take that into account.
The other thing that might get you some serious attention is if you post a picture of the rifle, that shows a local newspaper (even those that are only ads), that will render credible the reality of the offer, the location and a current date.
Just a suggestion.
Keep well and shoot straight!

@hector_j_medina_g good idea, thank you. I'll post some photos on the add I put up with the date and location. Thank you!
Ken,
One of the drawbacks of the Careers was that the ORing that sealed the poppet shaft in the valve was held in place by air pressure in the high pressure side of the valve.
If there was no pressure, then there was no seal.
Pumping a Career by hand from full empty is virtually impossible (don't you dare ask me how I know it, ROFL!).
Back in the days, we solved it by using an auto-tire "pig", that held about 180 PSI (it was reinforced by rings and it was used for 18 wheelers). The rifle needed to be cocked, then the "pig" connected and it almost emptied the pig completely to generate enough flow to drag the seal into place.
BTW, this is something like what I am talking about:
It would be an incredibly lucky strike if it was possible in this case. It would mean that the gun became empty and no one "tested" the emptiness of the rifle.
It was also a common complaint back then. People said their gun would not hold an air charge, and when asked if they had driven the gun to full empty, of course the answer was "No I didn't do it", but the reality was that the gun was completely emptied.
I do hope this gets resolved because some of those early barrels were REALLY accurate at high powers.
Hope the OP keeps us posted.

I have a Career II 707 carbine (.20) that I bought around 1998 from John Burroughs... had to buy a manual hand pump to fill it... it was a lot of work... I tried pumping it up last year with the pump, and got nowhere very slowly... gave up... I thought I was just getting too old for that workout !
I had it resealed by Rich Shar, who only lives about an hour and a half away... once he resealed it, he had to use a scuba tank to give it a blast to get the valve set (or something like that)... I invested in a GX-CS3 compressor that makes it a breeze to refill... hopefully, I will not get it on empty again !
I don't really care to get another PCP, but the 707 is a lot more fun, thanks to the compressor !
I would rather shoot my springers too !
You can always post on Brad's airgun classifieds that has been around forever...

Unfortunately, that site is rifle with scammers. There are several active scam ads listed right now and only a few you can trust there.
I buy and sell there all the time. Have so for the last 25 years. All boards have scammers. You have to do your due diligence no matter what board you are browsing. Have I been scammed? No. Have there been attempts? Many.
This right here is a good place. I haven’t posted much here but have listed a gun or too. I am fed up with agn. I can’t be who I am there. Maybe I will have to exit all forums. Time will tell.
I agree, but it’s bad there, worse than any other airgun forum. I too have been buying and selling there for 25 years, but for the the last several years, only with the few names I recognize and/or have dealt with in the past. I still check it out everyday though, and maybe I’m being “cocky” but I think I’m saavy enough to know who to deal with there.
