I have a reason for asking. On FB (facebook of all places, you can't trust fb, lol) i read that slingshots are illegal there, as well as some other places, so I wondered if air rifles are illegal also, and if it's spreading. My internet access is too limited to do a search. TY.
@blowgun.. Only in the city, They are not permitted at all.
All other county’s are fine for purchase.
They still have the 500 foot rule , and less than 500 there’s some strange rule about not shooting in backyards or basements.
Apparently in NYC, 9mm, .380 and .40 S&W pistols are OK.
The mayor doesn’t seem to care.

NYC, and several other cities a towns have specific laws banning air guns (and certain types of slingshots). Most smaller towns, and rural NY no. I’m in rural NY, with no problems
Air gun use is apparently prohibited by law in NYC and a number of other cities and towns, however I seem to recall some odd prohibition on shooting in back yards or basements.
