I know apples to oranges but assuming both are 12fpe versions,  is it really worth TWICE the price?

TIA

Cant speak to the FTP, but I haven an HFT500 that I've adjusted power to 15fpe in.  I've added an aftermarket butthook and hamster to it.  In comparison to my modified MPR FT, it's just as accurate, but I have to admit that the older MPR (also with aftermarket butt hook, etc) is more 'shooter friendly' to me.

Thank you Rob for your input. Just trying to seek some feedback whether or not the price difference is justified and to what dollar extent is enough to be able to win in competition. I do know that the HFT 500s are not regulated, how is the shot curve on yours because I would prefer an accurate non regulated gun.

I have a beautiful NIB FTP 900 that was a prize from the PY Cup couple weeks ago that could be had for a nice price. willpiatt6@ gmail.com

It has many more adjustments and bells and whistles. Look at the World's equipment list and you will see it is highly popular.

This one's factory chrony sheet shows 100 shots with 13 fps spread. Factory test group is very impressive too.

I will bring it to Nationals this weekend.

I own a home brewed HFT. An S500 in an ultimate sported stock. I took an FTP to worlds this year. They both need a little work to get them shooting their best. The FTP has a better trigger and ergonomics for shooting seated. The ergonomics on the HFT are better suited to use with a bipod(bucket or bum bag use optional. I'll be using my S500 at nationals this weekend if you want to give it a look. Also I would jump on Will's offer for the FTP because if you don't, I will.

One of our competitors from PR (Manuel Poly Morales) will be using his HFT 500 (tuned/regulated locally) in the Nationals PCP-WFTF  class this coming w-end.  Keep and eye on him, he finished 3rd at the recent Pyramyd Cup with his HFT.

I wonder why AA decided not to regulate the 12fpe HFT 500?

If it is filled to 2700psi and shot down to 1800psi would it have

a good enough shot curve being non regulated?

I would rather not have a regulator in it if it already shot well

without one. I have a 1701p that is bumped up to 10fpe that

shoots like a regulated pistol and same with my 1720T.

I would say the regulator would be a personal preference.  When mine was shooting at 12 lbs. it would get over 100 unregulated  shots with an acceptable ES.

That HFT 500 is tuned to 18 ft. lbs. and it get 50 shots with <20 fps ES which is good enough for my FT shooting. Shooting AA 10.3 gr pellets and filled to 2800 psi it will start at about 880 fps and peak at 900. The shot to shot consistency is much better than a regulated gun (I have a second HFT that is regulated). The regulated gun will get more shots per fill (about 90) but still has about a 15 fps ES. Using Chairgun to calculate the POI difference of a 20 fps muzzle spread at 55 yards, it is less than 1 pellet width.

So, I like the unregulated gun better than the regulated one.

The unregulated gun isn't balanced for a regulator so yea, it will be better without if you don't plan on going any further. With a proper hammer spring and hammer weight adjustment it will perform as good, if not better with an increased shot count.

Haven't received any reply to my email inquiry regarding the AA FTP900 so....

I finally got me an AA HFT 500 12fpe and it is pretty loud and rather offensive to my ears. The barrel is much shorter than the air tube. Can anyone recommend someone or some place to make it less offensive to my ears? Aside from wearing ear plugs? It is rather bothersome to shoot it the way it is right now and was really shocked as to how loud it is being only a 12fpe gun.

TIA
