I like to check the local classifieds to see if there is anything interesting airgun wise. A pawn shop had a Hammerli AR20 and a Air Arms Alfa pistol. The owner was not versed with airguns. Made me a great deal on the AR20. He told me the Air Arms was Co2. Not a fan of Co2 so I passed. Bought the rifle and tried to fill it. Leaked at the manometer. Everything I could find came out of the UK. So I took the bad seal to Home Depot to see if there was something close just to try the gun. It worked! Trigger is amazing. Just a tinge loud for using in my basement. While looking for replacement o ring I found an adapter to put a moderator on it. Came in today. Just topped my list of most quiet guns. Honestly about all I can hear is the pellet hit the paper. Love it.
In the mean time I couldn't get the pistol out of my mind. I googled it and found out it was a PCP. Went back to the pawn shop and bought it as well. New issue, no fill probe. My air Arms rifle was not at home so I couldn't use that one. Pyramyd Air had one out to me quickly. Went to fill the pistol and again had a strong leak. An o ring had failed in he reservoir. I pulled out a Mutant rebuild kit and found an o ring I thought might work, it did and I was ready to try the pistol too.
I do have other 10 meter rifles and pistol so it wasn't new to me. I just have never been very good at it. Between age and eyesight it just never seemed to come together for me.
First the pistol. I don't know why but it is just easier for me to shoot than my Aeron. The Aeron cocks easier, but the Air Arms was more accurate for me. Here is a 10 shot chrony test.
Keep in mind this is the best group I got. I'm normally happy to keep things in the black. This gun just made keeping in the circle easier for me. Shot at 10 meters using both hands to hold the gun. 5 shots.
The pistol,
The Aeron. I also like that the Aeron has a manometer and spare air tube.
The Air Arms comes with an ambidextrous grip. I didn't care for the fit so I got the Dremel out and personalized it. It's rated for 60 shots with the small air reservoir in the handle.
I forgot to chrony the rifle. I guess I was too excited how well it let me shoot. For me this is doing great. To keep the shots in the black had me smiling.
The rifle with the moderator, is looonnnnggggg. There is a large shroud area after the barrel end. I'm really tempted to cut it shorter. I just don't know how that would effect the shooting and the ratio of the front and rear sight? Sure quiet though.
Donny FL Tatsu. I think it was for a .25 caliber so there shouldn't be any clipping being used on this .177
It's just nice to have an indoor option when the weather hasn't decided what it's doing.
If anyone is interested in doing a little online 10 meter shooting I'm in. Pistol or rifle and just post a photo of your target with total score. We did this once before on another thread and it was kind of fun. Any .177 will work.
Interesting!
Are you thinking of posting ONE card (10 shots) or a full 60 shot match?
And, I would suggest opening a separate thread.

I'm easy. If anyone is interested we can do it either way. Yes, a separate thread would be best. Any takers?
Awe sheet man sounds like fun, but I lack the photo skills.

This site has the easiest photo upload. Any photo saved on your computer will upload without the need for a separate photo service like Imageshack or tinypics. It's just the honor system anyway so even posting your scores is fine.
I was at Utah Airguns today and they had this mini moderator made by Huggett. Every bit as quiet as the longer Donny FL. so I did get the rifle a little shorter.
There has been an indoor shooting event every Wednesday night at Utah Airguns indoor range. I was having so much fun with these 10 meter guns I offered to bring them to the event and have a section where you shoot at spinners with the rifle and then the pistol. Too much work to score paper. I made this light weight spinner on a stand so all you keep track of if it was a hit or not. I think I'll make a score sheet where you get more points per hit as the target gets smaller.
I just cut the base off some light weight Air Venturi silhouettes and welded them to eye bolts.
How many FT Lbs will those take without bending?

Not very much. They really are designed for low power rifles or silhouette pistols. Crosman has a wonderful 1701P pistol that is perfect for these. 10 meter guns work because they only shoot around 450-600 fps. Also use light pellets so hard to damage these thin targets.
If you want something that will take a hit all day long look at this vendors products. Handle .30 not problem.

I need help! I'm starting the thread over in the competition forum.
Nevermind, I made a pdf of one I had. Let's get shooting! ?

Thanks to Citizen K we have a better 10 meter rifle target. The links have been updated. Now start filling them with lead. ?
Didn't think to check the "AGW Resources" at the page top, Duh.
I set up two spinner sets at the shooting event. I was quite surprised how few people were aware of 10 meter shooting. ? I put a rifle on one lane and the pistol on the other. The rifle is so quiet I had a couple of shooters think it was broken. ?
People picked it up in a hurry and several "cleaned" the course with a little practice. I had to pull out an extra rifle to meet the demand. I thought it funny that an employee of the store, after shooting an Air Force Edge rifle, wanted to know more about it. I reminded him they have one for sale on their used rack. ? People also wanted to know if they came in a larger caliber and more power? ? All I could say was "Sure, whatever you're shooting tonight has that". ?
I don't know how but someone triple loaded a pistol. That jammed it up. I just put it away and left the AirArms Alfa out. I found out what was wrong when I got home.
I had figured that a group of airgun enthusiasts would know better than to do that. Never know with this rowdy crowd. The young girl in the front row is the daughter of the mechanic of the store. I'm on her left, dad right. She shot well but finished last. When they were announcing the winners and handing out great prizes I could see she was looking a little left out. I make targets for this store so I walked over to the display area and grabbed a new KYL target and gave it to her. What a grin! I see a future for her competing. ?
You are the man! Feed the young and they'll feed you.
We have a 10 meter comp in Concord CA, 2nd and 4th Friday nights at United Sportsman. 6-6:30 pm set up, series runs Jan - end o' May. Light hearted, we shoot all kinds of air rifles, it's a 'run what you brung' match.
Kids shoot for free (!) With nice loaner guns available. However- everyone shooting must have basic shooting skills before shooting here- we're in the clubhouse and the other old guys get grumpy when there are pellet holes in the walls, ceiling and floor.

Confession time. I put a pellet in my basement ceiling yesterday. ? Reminder to keep m finger off the trigger until I'm ready to shoot. I have to open a storage room door to get the 10 meters I need. A while ago I also put a pellet through the door casing. Also noticed a Coleman stove that sticks out of a shelf has nice dents in it. Emptied the mulch box and now it feels half the weight. Guess it's been a while on that one. ?
@pluric Your're not the only one, more often than not I'm finding more and more signs of errant shots, creases in soffits and such. which reminds me, them darn wadcutters seem to bounce off as though there after my Eyes...
