This is an old school 500cc Air Ranger with the upswept stock.  Attached is a .25 Huggett thingy with a Mil-dot 6-24x40 B&L 4200 on BKL mounts.  I thought it would be impossible with a Marauder pump, but I filled this gun up twice to 230 BAR.  Pumping wasn't that bad.  Will post chrony numbers and decibel level readings in weeks to come.

Tried JSB Jumbo Heavy 18gr. pellets at 25 yards (longest range I have to date), and they did not group well.  Then I tried the JSB Hades, and the last six shots are what you see.  The pellets definitely hit with authority with a loud thud.  My plans were to group the gun with JSB 25gr. monsters.  Hard to justify that now.  Maybe if I keep missing at long distances then I'll try those out.  Never had any luck with Crow Magnum pellets in the past.  The modern pellets have really impressed me.

I have one of these also. It chronied around 1050 with the JSB 18 grain pellets but due to the velocity they were not that accurate. I tried multiple brands and weights with the same results. On a whim while ordering pellets I ordered one tin of the JSB "redesigned" Exact jumbo Monter 25.39 grain pellets, and was I ever pleased. They chronined around 950 and shot on top of each other off the bench at 25 yards. The longest range I have shot a squirrel was a measured with a range finder 77 yards with a complete pass thru. I have yet to sit down at the bench at 100 yards to test it but no doubt it will shot MOA or less. Try some of the redisgned JSB Exact Jumbo Monster pellets and I bet your group size will shrink!!!!!!!!

I've heard rumors about this for the last several years, but I have never actually seen or heard of one with a rim fire barrel. I think it was just that, a rumor.

I distinctly remember a .223 version sold by AoA back in the day.  I dont know what barrel they used, though.

I still have mine, theses were the Air Ranger Extreme,23 inch barrel heavy reciever.

They deffinetly had a barrel for 22 lr. bullets...the original slug gun!

Mine shot 18 gr jsb at 1140fps (peak of bell curve) really well ,recently I machined 3/8 inch off the nylon preload spacer and brought the velocity down 100 fps ,now there are other pellets it groups well.

A little while ago I bought Rob Lanes regulater ,with no other changes it flattened the shot curve and I get 950 fps with 18 gr for about 40 shots fyi..

Never had to re seal this one just a rock solid platform, kelly

Never shot slugs before, and I know many guns out there were designed for pellets.  So I thought it was a good idea to shoot some slugs since they were laying around collecting dust.

This gun was initially sighted in with JSB Hades 18gr. pellets, so the 25gr. slugs will group lower.

Tried Knock out .216 25gr. slugs on the left.  Five shot group @ 25 yards.  I was expecting this.

I wasn't expecting the five shot group with the H&N .218 25gr. slugs at the same range on the right.

Now I'm contemplating to re-sight this gun in with the H&N slugs.  This would mean more punch with a 50ft. lb. rifle.

Looks like I will be converting from pellet to slug in this gun (.22 Hades to .218 25gr. H&N HP):  The flyer was entirely my fault:

this stock is not the correct one for this airgun it came with a green soft touch stock .

Finally someone has posted a green stock - along with a paper thin barrel!  I remember when these air rangers first came out.  They were truly ahead of their time for the power output.  I too remember someone wanted to sell me one for around $1800 (I passed).  Cannot remember if it was a complete rig or not.  Regardless, it was cheaper than other 80ft. lb. air rangers at the time.  The extremes (what you have here) were designed for slugs.  Mine are not, but the new H&N's have changed that.  Game is still being destroyed with Hades pellets during this transitional period.

Another five shots at 30 yards.  One flier in 10 rounds.

Didn't post it, but this gun is now sighted-in with H&N .218 25gr. slugs.

Do you think you could interchange an NSA 24.8 slug since they are so close in weight?  No.

Five shot groups @ 30 yards with the NSAs.  They are also so tight!  Reminds me of pushing CPH's in an HW barrel.
