The Avenge X is a LARGE rifle.
If you get the carbine, you will not get the performance of the long barreled versions.
If you get the rifle, it will be really awkward in close quarters.
After a LOT of thinking and taking a lot of measurements of other rifles that I have used in close quarters I decided to take the Bullpup with the CF bottle and a wood stock.
1.- It is not really a bullpup, it is, technically speaking a "semi bullpup" because your cheek does not rest atop the action.
2.- This allows you to cycle the "bolt" without "uncheeking" the rifle, something that is hard to do with true bullpups.
3.- With a full size barrel, I can get really good performance and a long string of shots before needing to re-air.
At my settings, I get great uniformity from different pellets, but the platform seems to level at around 29 grains:
With the "JSB Grand", I can get 50 very good shots from a single fill:
I still need to up the speed a bit more to get the accuracy at long range I want, but it is possible.
As is, the stats over 50 shots are:
As a Semi BullPup, the gun already measures 42" long and 15" high. If it was not a semi bullpup, it would be a HUGE gun.
Now, this assumes you are looking for a rifle in the Quasi-RF category, because these numbers match the output of a 0.22" RF short.
If you are looking for less power, more shots per fill and smaller format, the DIANA Skyhawk II merits a look into.
HTH, keep well and shoot straight!
