a wild guess is there is a spring in the trigger, sear area that is broken or out place

and looking at some pictures it might not have a sear at all and the piston engages the trigger itself and there would be a spring needed to hold the trigger forward and up to keep it engaged and if the spring broke the trigger would be floppy and the piston would not engaged the trigger because it is not being held in place

and because I have never seen one of these rifles in person, those are my educated guess

if I could find a parts diagram it would be easier

maybe the sear is inside the trigger

I’m from China. Do you know my name?

more maybe

The one I had let go,doing that, and bent the barrel upwards. Turned out the trigger sear wasn't quite catching the notch in the piston/spring guide. It's gone now, replaced with an underlever!

I made a simple spring compressor, took the gun apart and. Voila ,it was missing the spring on the trigger, just like you guys suggested ,I put it back together and I have been shooting the snot out of it. . Thank you guys again 🙏

One more question..if I may.. Do you know if the spring in one of those b-3 cleaning kits would fit inside a ruger airhawk? I am on a budget, plus I don't want it to shoot more than maybe upper 600fps..thank you gentlemen, your kindness is appreciated.

well you made me look, a cleaning kit with spring and seal added in and for 8 bucks what a steal

I think if you find a person that have both of these rifle and has taken them apart and measure the springs, tested the springs in each rifle  and reads this post would be like winning a big lottery

but what do I know

I would buy the cleaning kit but the 2 rifle are might and day in power and the spring length might be hard to make work without a whole bunch of trouble but again what do I know

these are just observations, logic gets in my way sometimes

QF-2 B3 AIR RIFLE CLEANING KIT

you know you can measure the length and diameter of the compression tube and get a idea of could it work, you would have to do some guessing but you should be close

well I had to look some more, so it seem the Ruger is a Diana 34 clone, so now the search is for a aftermarket spring that will give you that 600 to 700 fps range

now there is this post, but you have to cut the spring and redress the end, he got 700fps

now a call to Vortek would be my first choice and ask them about a weaker spring

now that's a little more i'll see if I can find an answer
