I ran across a Gamo AF-10 BB/Pellet pistol and bought it just because (it is pretty nice condition).

I love my Gamo Compact and I have always been curious about it's cousins the Gamo PR-45 and the AF-10. When I got it the air just hissed out when i did a compression stroke. I added a little air chamber lube to the intake hole on the underside of the cylinder. After a few strokes with the lube inside I heard a pop at the end of the piston and I then had compression that held. I added a BB to the load tube with high expectations! I compressed/closed the cylinder and the BB fell out of the barrel! I checked the markings and sure enough it said .177! I checked my container of BB's and yes, 4.5mm (.177). This gun will also shoot pellets in the same manner as my Compact so I loaded a 7gr ,177 pellet into the barrel. Stroked and pulled the trigger and nothing. I opened and the pellet had not moved. I had some lightweight Gamo Raptor pellets and gave one of them a try. I pushed it through the barrel and reloaded it and bang 320fps on the chrony. I did a few more of the "sized" pellets and got constant velocity with fair/good accuracy at 33ft target.

Any others have any experience with this pistol? I'm especially curious as to why the BB's just rolled through and the pellets wouldn't budge without "sizing"?

Since my first post I relubed the air chamber and loaded some older Daisy Golden BB's. 10 to be exact. I stroked the action and the BB fell out. I did it again and it held and shot fine. After that, every 3rd or fourth BB would fall out. Is there something about the valve box I am not seeing ?

BB's are actually .174 or so, contrary to markings. Also (please) NEVER shoot BB's out of a rifled barrel. If it's not a rifled bore than feel free. I'd try magnetizing the rear of the barrel so BB's will stay. Or maybe epoxy one of those mini, high-strength magnets on the outside of the barrel at the breech.

it doesn't shoot BB's but it does shoot Gamo's .177 lead round balls and .177 pellets

it appears it was last imported in 1993

let see how many of the Compact parts are used on the 10

the FPS was list at 430 so anything in the 400 range would be a health pistol, i'm thinking

I used to have one a while back, and really liked it.  Sort of a Compact-lite, same powerplant with a more basic trigger in a plastic grip frame.  My favorite feature was the in-line on-board magazine, which functioned flawlessly with Gamo lead rounds.  I used to carry mine in my pocket when walking the dog in the woods.  I used it to plink at mushrooms.  Kinda wish I still had it, and if I saw another one at a reasonable price, I'd probably buy it.

So if I understand this correctly, it does have a rifled barrel so no BB's whatsoever. BB's are .174 and .177 pellets are slightly too large so I should try finding some pellets that are between .174 and .177.

What is the smallest commercially available pellet? 4,48mm?

I just discovered the pistol slowly loses pressure. I think the first thing for me to do is rebuild it and then see how the pistol shoots.

old air guns normally need to be rebuilt and i think your pellet not exiting the barrel is telling you that

you have some pressure but not near enough, so a few parts and some round balls and a revisit to how it comes out would be in order
