FX Wildcat MKII - need tuning help
My Wildcat is averaging 933 fps with JSB 25.39 pellets. I'd like to bring it down to 900 fps. I bought it used, and it appears it has been adjusted before. I say this because the hammer adjustment brass screw was not locked like many have found to be the case. That being said, I turned the screw counterclockwise a half turn with no change in fps. I was concerned about turning it further because the screw became very loose, it was not snug. In fact, if it did lower my fps, I would be concerned that the screw would be too loose and not hold that position. I watched a YouTube video on the disassembly of the gun by Ernest Rowe, and while he did not do a hammer adjustment, he indicated it is tricky, but did not explain any further. Anybody out there who can provide me some help?
OK, I figured it out. Here is what needs to be done. The brass screw on the back of the receiver is just a cover. Behind it is a black plastic or delrin screw. That it what is used to increase or decrease hammer strike. I turned mine counterclockwise almost 1 full turn, and brought the FPS down to 902 from 930. Attached are a few photos.
