the fill cap that you screw the bottle into leaks around what looks like a pre drilled hole. I use a bulk CO2 tank thru a fill station for my Avanti rifle as well as my paintball tanks. Never had an issue before. The hole is below where the tube comes from the bulk tank. I was going to buy a replacement but I noticed they all seem to have this hole. Any thoughts?

Stuck a flashlight in so you can see the hole.

Here you can see the hole in the threads. Also, is there supposed to be a washer in the at the top?

Bad o ring on tank. No to any gasket in the top of the valve.

The only way for gas to get from the top of the tank to the vent hole, is for it to go past the O-ring on the tank.

Ok not sure how old the seals are from a friend, so I ordered some new ones. Is that the purpose of that vent  hole... to let you know you’re seal needs replacing?

Actually, I'm pretty sure that it's there to vent the pressurized system when you are unscrewing the tank. A little silicone grease on those O-rings doesn't hurt.

I'm not sure about the washer. Remove it and see if it works. I think the washer prevents the bottle to be screwed in completely and so the o-ring doesn't mate the sealing surface.

Ive Always screwed down to the bottom then back off at least a 1/4 turn. Read somewhere if you bottom out the top screw you may in fact block the CO2 from entering.

Sandman:  I don’t believe there ever was a washer inside the top of the fill receptacle

The O-ring on the tank neck, slides into, and seals against the unthreaded portion inside the adapter. The gas goes up around the pin that depresses the tank valve, so there is no need to back off the tank from the full in position.
