Nice shot bud!

I'm jealous - we can't hunt turkeys with any kind of rifle in TN -

Where you at?

Awesome job and great eating 🙂

Can't shoot them with a rifle here in Michigan either... even when they are begging for it

Yeah it says in VA game laws:

“Rifles (including air rifles) may be used for taking wild animals and wild birds, except migratory game birds and waterfowl, and where prohibited by local ordinances. Air rifles used for deer must be .35 caliber or larger. Bear and elk may not be taken with an air rifle.”

Goes on to say:

”Rifles (including air rifles), pistols, and revolvers may be used for hunting crows and turkeys, except where prohibited by local ordinances.”

Sweet.. Many Archers in our area cry everytime they hear airgunners express desire to shoot Turkey with airguns. In some ways I understand as it falls outside their comfort zone but the fact is that many archers when to old to draw the bow turn to crossbow which is IMHO no different than rifle. Thats not a shot at anyone that shoots crossbow or lacks the ability to draw a traditional bow but just a comparison I like to draw when the disscusion arrises.

Bottom line is Im jelly and wish we could shoot Turkey like you do.

Yeah. I'm still waiting for Ohio to upgrade existing air gun laws to include deer and turkeys. Heck, I could pop one in the head with my Winchester 1400cs .177UM at 60-70 yards. Or draw them in to 20-30 yards and use my Crosman 160 Pellgun & Gamo Hunters. As a matter of fact, I just ordered a Winchester 4x32AO scope to replace the Centerpoint 4x32 pictured.

Up until 4-5 years ago, Virginia used to require a doctor’s note stating disability to draw a bow in order to be able to use a crossbow for archery season. The deer population in urban areas is so out of control, the DGIF decided to allow them to be used without restriction. They do however require a separate crossbow license to be used during early and late specified archery seasons. If they are used during the general firearms season, no add’l license is required.
